e-cutout not working
e-cutout not working hey guys,
So im in the process of hooking up my new cutout and its not working!!! i used the power from the cig lighter, grounded it, and i checked all the voltages and through all the wires i get the same reading which leads me to believe its a bad motor...BUT before i mounted it under the car i hooked it up to the battery and the motor worked fine. any ideas?

Test the cutout motor again. Easy way: Pop one of the courtesy light covers off (access either your dome light or map lights) and touch the wires to the ends there to see if the cutout motor works or not.
If it does, then it means that there's a problem in your wiring--either the ground isn't good or the cig lighter isn't working (you can quickly test it out with a phone car charger or GPS charger). Also, make sure you're using the positive wire coming off the cig lighter and haven't accidentally tapped into to the ground wire
I know it sounds dumb, but it's easy to overlook/mistake things as easy as that.
Also, for wiring your cutout switch, it should look like this:

well im getting power from the cigarette lighter because i tested all the voltages and they came out good. and the fuse is good because i tested that too. it cant be the switch because i get voltage when the switch is engaged. its a badlanz cutout...ill try testing the motor again tonight after work. thanks.
also, i get voltage through all the wiring down to where the long wire connects to the motor. so i think its either the motor or something with the plug between the motor and the power wire.
Voltage -and- ground, right? Can you poke the motor terminals?
