Default Missing a Few Header Bolts...

Is it alright to drive around for about a week till I can get it to the shop to tune it if I am missing about 2 bolts on each side? I could not get the front and rear ones on the driver side or the back 2 in on the passenger side and we ran out of time to fix it. I know I crossthreaded atleast 1 bolt also I'm using gm gaskets so that might help but it was the header install from hell.....

damn man, sounds rough...do you have a swivel extension for your ratchet set?

This is such a subjective question, I think you can drive it - but your O2s will be way off and you may get some nasty exhaust in the cabin. I would not drive far!

Its not a matter of getting to the holes. They just would not go in... I'm more worried about the rear 2 being missing. I think the driver side is fine just missing the front and rear one

I had a crossthreaded hole during my instal.. I added 2 washers including a lock washer to the header bolt so that it would still tighten down (also added loctite), no leak yet.

Missing some would cause a loud tick wouldn't it? I hope its not my lifters but there is a loud tick coming from the driver side rear. I hear it in my car

I wouldn't do it, especially if your missing two rear ones. Might work, might not, but must have really been a hellish install cause I just put my headers back on this morning and after putting the front and rear bolts on the four middle ones went it by hand on both side... was the gasket messing up the bolt alignment or something?

The loud tick is probably the normal engine, headers have thinner walls and allow sounds from inside the engine to escape through them, unless this is a BAD tick...do you have a vid?

If you recently just got a loud tick from after the header install then it's probably a leak from the headers, I personally wouldn't run it, I made the same mistake before and ended up taking the headers back off because I ruined the gaskets.

I'm gonna have to put atleast 60 miles on it (mostly all highway) since I need to get to school. The tick came right when I started driving it and if I need a new gasket... That's perfectly fine with me

The tick is more than likely a leak at the header. Same thing happened to me. Check and make sure your spark plugs are all tight; if they are then it's definitely the header leaking. Literally just went through this.. just take it to an exhaust shop they'll fix it for you in 20 min

if two rear are gone and its a bad tick being that the rear 2 basiclly fasten down 1 primary and part of another you have basiclly exhaust leaking from that cylinder extremely bad and a few others fairly badly definitely get new bolts ASAP and its very possible the gaskets could need to be replaced with that severe of a leak. good luck.

How much is this going to hurt my engine? I'm trying to do the least amount of damage to it. I have a video that I'm uploading now on youtube

Are the 2 bolts next to each other on each side? If there spread out I wouldn't think it would be that big of a deal since the other bolts should hold it on there enough for the car to run.

On the passenger side they are next to eachother. The driver side is the front and rear ones. Idk if it was a gasket problem or not. I mean the middle 4 holes are lined up and in so I'm lost. I'm just gonna take it to the shop and have them fix it. It shouldn't be too much maybe $150?

I had 1 bolt that wouldnt go in. It was 2nd to last on the pass side. About after the 1oth time trying to thread it in I got pissed and decided to tighten the **** out of it lol. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Ended up bringing it to a small shop to drill out the broken bolt. They droped the engine out of the bottom lol Cost me like 13-1400. Ill never do that again. But heres the pisser, I need to do my exhaust again with stainless so now I get to find out how well they did getting that bolt out. They used washers on my god damned bolts! So ill see what kinda bs I have to deal with when I take the pacesetters off.

Its a good thing your more patient than me dude. If I was you I would take those headers off and clean out the holes. Try and thread the bolts in and all that. Hopefully you can get it.

Its hard to tell in the vid but if you a header leak it will sound like a lawn mower going down the road. I think you have a leak but its hard to tell.
