SLP air lid - holy crap!!!
I'm not very mechanically inclined, but I just put in an SLP air lid for my 99 and WOW.
I sprayed down the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner since I had it out and seriously... I am blown away by how responsive the car is now.
Hows come some people say they didnt notice a difference after installing one from stock? I am just tickled pink, i had to post about it.
So far I have catback exhaust, slp air lid, K&n air filter, and new wheels/tires from OEwheels. Putting new MSD wires in later this week. What should I add next? Subframe connectors?
Thanks everyone for your excellent guides on the air lid/install

The k&n filter came with the car when I bought it a year ago, I havnt touched it other than with compressed air. Should I be oiling it?
That is true about the mind, i could have felt more power because I wanted to, good point.

I wouldn't worry about. I think we all have done it, I know I have.
They sell a K&N filter recharge kit that comes with a cleaner and oil. It's common for people to over oil them. When I got my bird' the previous owner had installed a K&N and over oiled it. There was oil all over the MAF screen and the wires inside. The filter fit like crap so I tossed it and went back to a paper filter. There are a lot of people on the board who don't like K&N's. They say to let more air pass through the filter it's not as efficient. If you search I'm sure you will find a few threads about it.
I'm not saying they are good or bad but the one I had fit like crap. There's a lot of hype on the internet about certain products but most of the time there's no factual basis. Once a few people read something it suddenly becomes gospel and everyone believes it. Flowmasters fall into that category also.
There is a lot of good info on this site but there is a lot of bullshit too as any internet forum. People read stuff, believe it and pass it along to others to either help or make themselves look smarter. I'm sure I've done this in the past but I try really hard not to. If you think about the people out there who actually have factual data on things; engines, cylinder heads, suspension and so on, only a few people would be able to post.

To answer your question on what you should do next, I would definitely do some long tube headers and a good y-pipe, and get your throttle body ported and polished. Those together would make a big difference.

I'm a newbie but I would suggest a tune. Could pull a few more ponies that way and will probably cost less then headers/y-pipe. Also if you do end up getting the headers the tuner will come in handy. I purchased HPTuners from a local shop for $650 and it came with 8 credits. Plus (I'm in this boat) it's an interesting subject to read and learn on. Or just get it tuned by a pro.
My K&N fits well, I did notice a little more throttle response when I switched to it, but don't know about HP. Anyone look into the other high-flow filter styles? I know there are a couple oil free high-flow lifetime filters out there.

I didn't really notice a difference when I put my lid on. However, when I got my TB P&P'd I noticed a difference. The two of them seemed to help my car out a lot. I just run a paper filter. Every vehicle i've had that had a K&N filter on it ended up having a bad MAF sensor. I never oiled any of them. Just not worth it to me. Some have good luck with them and some have bad luck. I am in the bad luck category when it comes to KN filters.
