Default Reusing stock header gaskets

So, any issues with reusing header gaskets? I'm broke and happened to pick up some headers for very cheap.. is it safe to reuse the stock gaskets? my LS1 just turned over 89K miles Friday.

Thanks in advance!

Most people recommend re-using them or buying new ones from the dealership. I reused mine with about the same miles you have on yours and haven't had any issues with them. I wouldn't worry about it one bit.

New stock manifolds are like $15 shipped, but yeah a lot of people ditch the aftermarket gaskets, because thats 1 of the few things gm did right =p

I know they're cheap, but I'm a highschool student still paying off the remaining $1300 from my SS lol

If you haven't had any probs yet, I'll probably just reuse them. did you recondition them or anything?

Ive re-used them but I spray a little copper coat on them first just to be sure they will seal, leaking headers really suck.

Default header gaskets

I just took my Stock manifolds off. Only have the right side off now. I was planning on reusing mine. Just wondering are the 2 layers supposed to be only attached in the middle and floppy on the ends?

I reused.
In tightening them, I snugged them evenly, then torqued them just a bit beyond what the initial recommendation was.
They seem to be leak-free.

I'm running the Cometic MLS gaskets and have reused them at least 4-6 times. Seal perfect. They are about $30 from Summit. I know you are asking about stock gaskets but i thought I'd throw that in there.
