Default $300 for exhaust

Hey on a stock ls1 what's the best thing I could do for exhaust to get it louder for around 300. I will eventually save for headers but I'm talkin right now

Was thinking about an electric cutout. Where should I put it for the most sound and which is louder a bullet or lm1 resonator

if I were you, get the ebay headers and y combo, find a used dynomax bullet and dump it off the Y.... that setup can be had for 300 all day long...

edit: if you buy a used muffler, they will always be louder than a new one.... more rasp but louder

It would depend on the brand of bullet muffler.
But, the LM1 resonator would typically be louder.
It's pretty much just straight pipe.

Best place to put cutouts for sound is after the headers before the cats.. not sure about all the clearance you'll need but some people have told me they can fit em. Might wana take a look if that's where your gonna decide to put them.

my exhaust setup right now:

ebay stainless headers: $220 new (replaced rusted out hookers)
TSP catted Y pipe: $40 used (got a steal, but a new ORY is only like $125)
magnaflow catback: $50 used (another steal, but you could do a cutout or just a muffler)

You want Loud? Remove your cats and add a LM1. I miss this. I might just toy with it and remove the cats again.
It cost me 70 bucks to remove both cats, and 30 bucks to add the LM1, 30 for the used LM1. All together, $130!

op you can fing a lm1 all day for 130,150 range, look on craigslist and the parts section on tech, trust me there are always alot of these for sale, main reason is because the more you mod your car the more the lm1 sounds like crap, wanna cheap loud exhaust , put a dynomax bullet on,and just leave it dumped, i loved my lm1 when my car was stock with cats, i thought it sounded great, after the big cam and all the other mods it sounded like ***, best loud exhaust is tsp duals with sweetthunders, by far sound better than any lm1 ,corsa ,or any other loud catback i have heard

I don't have headers I just have stock manifold, would it still sound good and loud?

Also if i do buy headers how hard is it to put them in yourself or how much would it cost to have someone else do it?

headers are simple.. will require patience, a helping hand or two and some beer... I will be doing mine in a couple of weeks once I get my Xpipe..

headers are not that bad, and there are tons of great header install threads,if you have never worked on a car before it might take you a lil longer but imo thats how you learn, a shop could charge you alot , imo save your money ,man up, get a friend to help and go to town lol. as far as ebay headers go, there are lots of threads on this, a guy i know had great luck with them, had to do a few extra things but he got stainless longtubes and alot of cash still in his pocket
