Do yourself a favor, send the heads to AI (Advanced Intduction) They are the BEST at porting stock heads PERIOD.

So far, so good.
Ive got Spohn solids, a trans mount, and an 04+ LS6 valley to install along with the headers / Y.
I got the intake mani and coils pulled today. Also ripped out the AIR and stock PCV.
What a damned abomination under the manifold. Gaskets melted to ****, oil all over EVERYTHING. Just completely NASTY under there. I was embarrassed to say the least.
Pulled the plugs.... For future reference to everyone, please, for the love of God, use anti-seize on the damned plug threads. / rant.
2 cracked plugs, a rotted PCV line, and 4 bent plug tips. How the hell was my car even running?
Got the intake ports all taped up. A super cleaning is definitely in order for tomorrow. I can't believe how bad the oil buildup was under there.
Anyone have a good tip on how to clean the intake ports of the heads? It's literally CAKED on the inside with oil residue build-up. I'm afraid something will fall to the valve when I clean it. A shop-vac only reaches so far.....
Tomorrow I hope to get the remaining manifold bolts off; The oil dip-stick itself, as well as mani bolt and #8. Thats really all I'm lacking... #1's bolt was missing. Haven't found out yet if the bolt was broken by previous owner. Can't wait for that news.
Should be a busy day tomorrow with the cleaning and Bally install. I MIGHT be able to get started on the headers as well.
We'll see.

Well, I got the 04+ LS6 valley cover on today. Found out I didn't have to cut the block!!
Does that mean I have an LS6 block?
Anyways, didn't think I could clean the heads of all the gunk... A box of cu-tips, a half a roll of Brawny paper towels, and 2 hours later, I had some 241's that looked aftermarket "esque."
I soaked my nasty *** intake manifold in a Rubbermaid tub full of water and Dawn concentrate. Took off to Wal-Mart for a baby bottle brush to clean the runners... Absolutely CAKED with oil residue.
I then turned my attention to the Y pipe. Sprayed some industrial stuff on the bolts tgat I got from one of the contractors offshore; called Aero Croil.... Nuts came right off. Sweet.
Then discovered my 7/8" is missing, so off to the store tomorrow so I can pull the O2 sensors and continue dropping the stock y and manifolds.
More tomorrow, but a good day today. Hope to have the stock **** off, and possibly get the solid motor mounts and poly trans mount on tomorrow.

As far as if you have an LS6 engine block, one easy way to tell is by the bulls-eye shaped indications on the front and back of the engine block. They are right infront and right behind the valley cover on each side and they face upwards. If you have these bulls-eye looking shapes forged in the block, then you have an LS1 block. If you do not have them, then you have an LS6 block. I came across this info in another thread in the past.

Removing motor mounts can steal the day's pride in previous accomplishments.
Should I remove the alternator? It's one bolt that's cost me more foul-mouthed tantrums and knuckle skin.
It's the drivers pedestal, motor side, front one closest to the ground.
