Off to the exhaust shops pipe expander again.

This is just my experience, but both of the first pipes that go on the header collector are VERY tight. I've only been able to get them half way on, and that's after running them through an expander once already.

They slip over all the other sections of Y just as a test fit, but I'm guessing the collectors themselves are slightly out of round, or just a bit bigger OD.

With most all ypipe setups I have ever dealt with you are required to leave the factory stamped piece off.

Sweet. Thanks for reply, Aaron. Just wanted to make sure.

I'll shoot you those pics tomorrow, btw.

Well, it's done. Got everything buttoned up on the bottom tonight. I do have a heat shield though on the deck that I have NO clue where I pulled it from...

Hung the Y by myself. Honestly wasn't hard at all. I had to cut an inch off my LoudMouth's I pipe, but that only took a few minutes with a cutting disk. Got the o2's screwed in and torqued. Plugged them into the rears. I have to re-pin the PCM tomorrow. I'm colorblind, so this should be great.

Hopefully I'll be able to post some pics tomorrow.

Your the first person to mention torquing the 02's, what is the spec on those?

Small heat shield goes over the drivers side pedestal, some toss it, some use it, I figure I'll use mine.

Sweet, Congrats!

Mine is idol to at least tomorrow, entire time off after that to after the holidays.

Taking a break for my Razorback game....

Exhaust is DONE.

I must say, all my myself, everything lines up great. Looks tucked up very very well too.

Got the alternator back on. Rook me a minute until I got both the bracket and alternator up the separately. Wouldn't fit with them together....

I stabbed the dipstick tube all by myself. Wasn't bad at all. I will, however, run to Lowes and get a new bolt for it, as it won't fit past the header flange.

All that's left is to remove the painters tape from the heads, hook up vacuum lines, stab the manifold and bolts, TB & lid, and thats it. Oh, and repin the PCM harness.

Got the air pump removed also.

Question- Does it look like all your injectors are seated ALL the way? A few sit flush on the bottom of the intake manifold, and the rest look a few millimeters "out" so to speak. I pushed them down as hard as I could. They aren't going any further.

I'm about to go for the first test drive!

Started her last night when I got done, but I has a few celebratory beers so I waited till today.

I found out I'm missing an intake manifold bolt. When I was going through the torque sequence on LS1HowTo, I discovered that my #2 wasn't there. I guess I didn't even realize it during disassembly.

My small HVAC hose came apart when I went to reinstall it. It was badly cracked to begin with, but hidden in the shielding. I taped it up as best I could.

#8 spark plug is definitely still a bitch, let alone the plug wire itself. Bigger primaries mean even less room, lol.

I repinned the PCM harness to switch front and rear o2's last. Really wasn't that hard at all, and it allowed me to reuse my old o2's for a few weeks.

Advance was having a sale in my area for the oil I use; get a 5qt jug and get a free K&N oil filter. Can't beat that. It's a 13.99 value, plus I get a 7 dollar mail in rebate... Check at your local Advance Auto and jump on it if you can.

I'll post some pics later today.

Aforementioned oil was Castrol Edge, by the way. SUBSTANTIALLY quieted down the valvetrain, to say the least. Been a believer for over a year now.

I've been stagnant on mine, but maybe if you post some pics I could get motivated...??? LOL

So ALL of the what I would call female ends on any of the exhaust had to be expanded at the muff shop?

Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

No, not ALL of them. Just the two pieces that fit on the collectors themselves. That's it.

Speaking of motivation, I need to post pics. Cooking a chicken and sausage gumbo at the moment.

This LoudMouth IS NOT gonna cut it though. Next on my list is a Borla XR-1, 40085. This rasp at 2300 is INSANE! It's like a freakin farm truck. Sounds like you're getting slapped in the face 20 times a second cage side!!!

Sorry for the delay, and boo me.

Yeah, I still suck at pics.

I have some **** to throw on here for sale today, so pics will be posted.

Lowest point of the entire system, surprisingly, is the LoudMouth resonator.... Weird.

I think it's time to lay this thread to rest and start a new one with my install pics and lessons learned along the way.

5 pages is cool and all, but it's time to retire it, LOL.
