Firechicken, I think what your friend with the tpi had is thepart that slips into the front of the throttle body bellow & smooths airflow of blocky factory design. Not a spacer,see nothing in that either{without hoses).
If ya haven,t yet, check out my thread on budget crossram intake. Now that would make a difference if I could pull it off.

instead of getting the tb spacer just do the zip tie mod same result

The only time Id use one is if there's a fuel and nitrous hook up to it lol.

The only TB spacer that actually did anything (moderately) and wasn't actually a spacer was for the 3rd Gen Cammy's and Birds. It was a small piece of aluminum called an air-foil. Actually worked for me. Made the flat spot in front of your plenum pointed so the air went in smooth.Not sure if anyone else heard of these?

They "work" on our cars by taking out the slack in the throttle cable, so more response equals more power in your head
