Default Has anyone tested a throttle body spacer?

Im just wondering if anyone has done a before and after dyno on a throttle body spacer...such as the poweraid? I have one on my car (i got it free) and didnt notice anything. A fellow third gen owner (has a tpi though) has a tb spacer on his car, he swears it makes more power....I called it a ricer mod....he got pissed lol

so yea, if anyone has any links or info that would be great!

TB spacers came into the realm because old carb guy's would use spacers under their carb's... Long runner EFI intakes see 0 gains from a throttle body spacer. If you think about it, what does it benefit? The only thing you are effectively doing is increasing the plenum volume by a marginal amount.

I had a friend tell me that my car has a TB spacer on it after examining the intake. He said between my TB spacer, Lid, and cat-back, I was making 30-40 extra horsepower. This is what people who believe in these things think...I've never put in a TB spacer, he obviously thought it was a spacer, and it was something else.

IMO, a TB spacer is worthless, ricer mod is right on the head. Maybe .3HP to be gained from it.

my tb spacer came with a radix magnacharger i bought, the supercharger had a poweraid 78mm tb spacer. when i bought it, i took it off and put it on my n/a car until i got the s/c installed....but its coming off when i do that because i upgraded the s/c jtube from 78mm to 90mm. the spacer whistles....thats about it.

i would love to see some real proof it does nothing though...flow charts, dyno graph etc...

I remember seeing a dyno graph of someone doing this a few years ago but couldnt find it. It was only like a .8 HP gain. Worthless in my opinion. Alot of people who wash their car think its faster after to haha.

Spacers only work if used in applications where fuel is introduced at/before the opening to the intake (i.e. carb'ed and TBI).

I had one put on my truck, the only noticeable gain was better throttle response. Waste of money lol.

Thumbs down tb spacer = FAIL on LS engines

I've had two knowledgeable tuners of ls1 engines who frequent this forum tell me a spacer interrupts the airflow and reeks havoc on maf tuning and the overall performance of the engine. Of course, this was after I bought one and installed it on my car.

On a side note; know anyone who wants to buy a nice red anodized thunder racing tb spacer?

Take that thunder racing spacer, mill some holes into it, and turn it into a nitrous plate.
