L92 annoying idle
The idle is really annoying! It has very slow return from 2000rpm to normal idle.
Which means that I have to wait a couple of seconds before I change gear from first gear to second if I donīt want to change gear at 2000rpm...
Has this something to do with keeping the emissions down and lower wear on the engine? Or is it possible to speed up the idle return?

When it occurs, it will happen after coming to a stop. I don't notice it in between gears, prob because the engine speed is already higher than the problem.
Sometimes, it will not occur, and other times, the idle remains high for several seconds before returning to 800rpm.

I did notice that the bottom of my catch can has a drip of oil below it from time to time, and I can't seem to tighten it up enough to fix this. This causes me to think that there could be a minor vacuum leak when the engine is hot.
Thunderstruck might be right.

Turns out the brand new brake booster I had installed on the car around 7-8 years ago must have been bad out of the box. I was converting from drums to discs on the Chevelle and didn't know what to expect...the brakes were still better just not as good as I hoped. The carbed 350 was rich enough to hide it. Once I swapped in a cammed ls1 I always blamed the tune. Booster finally started squealing after my head/cam swap. Put on a new one and now I have awesome brakes and the car idles like it's not retarded.
Point being sometimes they are very hard to find...and they mess with everything.
