Default Ceramic coated headers worth the extra $100?

I'm looking to buy some Pacesetter headers for my 2000 SS and i was wondering would the Black finish be fine, or is the extra 100 to get a pair of ceramic coated worth the money?

The ceramic coating will cut down on under hood temperatures, and the headers will last longer, I would say YES it's worth it.

They will eventually rust either way. I'd save that $100 towards some stainless ones.

coated or stainless, or both. the painted ones are going to flake off within a few heat cycles and then you just have wasted money on rust.

I had Pacesetter ceramic coated headers on my V6 Camaro for about 3 or 4 years I think. I had surface rust but that's it.

I'd do it once and do it right-go with the ceramic coated.

It might mean the difference between the front O2's being able to function or not (they require heat).

ceramic coated headers wont rust if you do the required maintenance on them. I bought SLP ceramic coated headers for my old GTP and they came with a paper with pics showing how to keep them clean, you have to do it once a year.

What planet are you from!!!! The coating keeps the heat inside the tubes rather than heating up your engine bay.

I've had ceramic coated headers on mine for 4yrs with no issues at all.

Yes stainless is better....but not all can afford the $$$$

does Pacesetter make SS longtubes for the LS1 ? i was asking about SLP Longtubes people told me they sit too low. Soo i asked about Hooker supercomp long tubes and people tell me they are the same quality as pacesetter but cheaper soo thats why i ask. I also need a cattted y pipe and i think i should keep it emission friendly headers if i can.

That's what I'm saying, the coating keeps more heat in the tubes which helps the O2's.

Keeping excess heat out of the engine compartment also means the wiring and electrical connectors will last longer.

Yes, the paint also stinks as it burns off and looks like crap within month. Ceramic is the way to go or if you can afford it get stainless steel.

Location might actually figure in. I live in a very mild climate and have had zero problems with coated headers and would (always) do it again on everything I ever buy. Those who live in the ice/snow belt and have to deal with salt and such may have a different opinion on coatings...

Seeing as how his car will never see snow or road salt in Mississippi, it's not required to get stainless headers. Yes uncoated headers will rust, but it will take years and years for them to rust through in a saltless climate.

Up north such headers will not last more than a few years driven daily.

But I do suggest you spend the extra hundro and get them coated. It's very much worth it.

I would suggest the SS ebay headers and be cheaper than either option.
