I've used stock bolts, Stage 8 "locking" bolts without the locks because I was too lazy to install them, and now use ARP header studs.

I like the header studs the best...the passenger side went really nice since I was able to hang the gaskets on the studs before sliding the header in. The driver's side was still a pain in the *** since I couldn't install a single stud before sliding the header in place, but that's probably because of how I was installing them (with everything including the oil filter, steering linkage, etc still in place).

They sure look nice though, and I should never have to replace them.

Lord knows, I've fuct up plenty of stuff in my lifetime, but cannot ever remember fucn up a header bolt install. Factory bolts are fine *if* you follow some basic rules of common sense...

I've never seen a broken one in person or broken one myself, but I have read multiple stories on here about it happening.

Ditto, I'm going to go with ARP 134-1003 (x4) since I have a gift card to a place that sells 'em.

Question

Just wondering; So what’s to say those $50 header studs won't break off too, assuming whoever breaks the stock bolts are over tightening them?

Stage 8 locking bolts for me, haven't really had to tighten them anymore. They just didn't try to back out after my headers were installed.

I used the ones that came with my headers, they probably are not the best but should work fine.
