Default comparison between these two headers brands... opinions please!

How do Mac Headers sound compared to Hooker Headers...

The reason I asked is because my bf has Hooker LT's and I am looking at getting some Mac Mid-length headers...

How do those two compare in sound? and also, what is the difference really in long tube and mid length headers?

any sound clips with no catz?

Um I may not be right but I think that long tubes like hookers make a little more rasp than mid lengths. They are both really good headers. I may be wrong about the rasp because it was different catbacks I heard it on. Personaly I like long tubes and make a little more hp than mid lengths. Oh by the way non had cats.

There are some sounds clips of Mac headers on ls1sounds.com. Just look under the different cat-back links and there are clips with Mac headers mixed in here and there.

Ive heard Hookers are better, i'm going w/ the hooker design myself, but like everyone has been saying it all comes down to your personal preferance. Good luck....took me about 2 weeks straight and 3 headaches later to finally decide what to get between QTP's, Macs, SLP's, Kooks, FLP's, or Jet Hots, i'm going w/ jet hots which is a Hooker design.

i'm hearing about good gains from Macs but longtubes still produce a few more horses. its a matter of personal taste really. i have pacesetters LTs (pretty much hooker ripoffs with slight fitment issues) and im more than satisfied.

I have been satisfied with my headers to date. I wish however I would have bought pacesetters or another cheaper brand b/c I feel that the quality does not warrant the price. I have a clearance issue between my k-member and I had a hell of time installing my O2 sensors and my y-pipe. I feel that the other cheaper brands would have given me the same hiccups but cost a little less.

I have read that mid length headers are a waste of money.......you don't get near the power you do with long tubes. by the by, every one I have seen posted with Hooker headers have no complaints about them

I've had both, the Macs and now Jet Hots. It really comes down to what you want to do with your car. Macs are a great header and there isnt a whole lot of difference in the amount of power gains when basically stock; however, long tubes sound a little better in my opinion and will produce better numbers later on if you want to do any motor work. As far as ground clearance, I have a little bit better with the Jet Hots then the Macs.

I've had both also, and the only reason that I switched the MACs out was because I had a specific HP # I wanted out of my H/C and wanted every last pony. The MACs are a great street header and I would reccomend them to anyone staying mildly modified. My MACs (with factory cats) and a LS6 manifold made 30rwhp without tuning. Figure 20rwhp or so was from the headers...not too shabby.

I have had MAC's and Hookers. The best bang for the buck was the MAC's. The Hookers made more power 5-8rwhp. The noise level and rasp were about the same for both.
