Magnaflow catback: are the quad tips worth the $200 extra?
I am going to be buying a Magnaflow catback soon and have been looking at both the dual and quad tip options. The place I am looking to purchase from has the quad tip at $200 more than the dual. I know that the quad tips look great on the back of a T/A, but is it worth $200 extra? I have also considered buying other quad tips after the fact, but I think that I would prefer the Magnaflow style tips. Thoughts/opinions?

I had the quad tip Magnaflow on my Trans Am & it looked awesome. The tips fill the cutouts in the rear bumper nicely also. In my opinion they are definitely worth the extra money.

$200 extra for just a set of tips isn't worth it in my opinion. Personally, I would just roll with the 3.5" cannons for a while and then switch them out later, it will end up being cheaper that way I'm pretty sure.
I know you have a T/A, but this just gives you an idea of how the catback itself looks on an actual car. It's not bad looking at all IMO and it would look much more subtle on a T/A because of the way the bumper is made.

It's also worth noting the quad tip catback's tips are resonated. I have that catback. The tips are very very nice. I was skeptical about how much I paid until I opened the box. After putting them on I've yet to second guess the purchase.
I assume your ride is the white TA in your sig? My WS6 is white as well. I'll post up a picture tomorrow of mine installed so you see exactly what it would look like.

Hey Furious, I have a set of the Magnaflow quads I took off my car with only about 15K miles on them, never in the rain or snow. OK, they might have seen rain once. If you can wait a month for me to get home, I will sell them a LOT cheaper than $640...or $440 for that matter. PM me if you're interested.

Yes, quads are a must on a T/A IMO. I paid $200 for some used (like new) Corsa's, so 200 for some brand new (very good looking IMO) Magnaflow tips seem reasonable. Some may say $200 is to much for tips but I'd disagree, of course, my car is my masterpiece and it gets nothing but the best. Now if you just have some janky old DD f-body ya I might just spend that 200 in other places.

Here a few pics. I tried to get as many angles as possible. I know how it is trying to decide on something visual. I apologize, though, that the car and tips are dirty. I tried cleaning them up a bit. My car has an ory and runs rich so they get nasty quick, which I'm fixing soon. I also apologize for only having one crappy cell phone pic of the tips uninstalled. Hope these help though.
I can't comment on the sound difference between the quad resonated tips and duals. However, I can say that the sound I get out of my car is very smooth, aggressive, deep, and refined. It got rid of that angry dumptruck in disguise sound that almost every fbody I hear has. It's near perfect as it is, with just a hint of rasp from about 2100-2300 RPMS under heavy throttle. I can't wait to hear it once I get my catted y with a real merge installed.
