Default bbk intake install

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a bbk intake on a basically stock 98 z28.I was wondering if I could get some help putting my parts list together before I get started.I'm trying to figure out all of the little stuff I need to get the job done as well as the stuff "I may as well do while I'm in there." Any help I receive is greatly appreciated.

It comes fairly complete, just some minor pre assembly I used some permatex spray adhesive to hold the bottom gasket in place, with the old intake off now is a good time to swap in a new oil pressure sender.

When I ordered mine it came with everything I needed. I just recommened going ahead and buying a Oil Pressure Sending Unit. More that likely you will break it taking it off.

Besides having full exhaust the car is basically a stock 98 m6 Z28. I'm wondering if I should use a stock ported and polished throttle body or would I be better off saving up for BBK'S throttle body. And whats the best way to clean injectors?

Id run a ported stocker for now, you can always sell it. Buy the bigger tb when you upgrade the entire intake tract. Call fuel injector connection, they can sonic clean your injectors and make them perform like new

I would forgo the bbk and get a used ls6 intake. Just as good, and will have better resale value if you decide to upgrade in the future.

Just remember if you convert to the LS6 valley cover you will have to cut off about 1/2 inch of casting in the valley on your 98 LS1 to make it fit.

Only downfall to an ls6 pcv system is the cutting of the block. If your up to that, there is no reason not to switch it. Your Already going to have to change the bolts.

I have a 98 LS1 and switched to the BBK and LS6 valley cover because when I removed the LS1 intake and turned it over oil started running out from years of blowby, now with the LS6 cover I have no blowby, and love the BBK however I did have to drill out one of the bolt holes about 1/16 that did not line up, if you do a search on youtube there is a video on cutting out the casting for the LS6 and injectors usually cost about $25 each to have cleaned (if you remove them and mail out).

Thanks for all the replies. This is good info.I think I'll go ahead and order the ls6 valley cover. It seems worth it. conv55 do you remember off hand which bolt hole it was you had to drill out?$200 seems sort of steep for the injector cleaning.Correct me if I'm wrong but I was thinking new stock injectors were some where close to $250.

You can buy larger injectors for that price. Just have to have a tune done before you start it up. This would allow you room to grow if you ever decide to cam it

No need for the ls6 coolant tubes. Use a hammer and lightly tap down the existing one. Use loctite on the screws that hold the bottom plate on. Also the bbk tb gasket does not have the port for the iac cut out so be sure to do that.

Would larger injectors have any negative affects?I am already planning to get the car tuned after this so that shouldn't be an issue. If I cam the motor, which I probably will soon, it will be a fairly small cam.I'm eventually shooting for 375-400rwhp.What #/hr. injectors should I be considering?

for that hp range,
the Ford SVO 30lb injectors should work great (actualy 36lb at LS1 pressure)

No need to knock down coolant tubes. Mine installed over the tubes with no problems. Yes, use some blue loctite on each of the screws holding the bottom panel on and you will need to cut out a hole in the TB gasket for the IAC.
