I have heard that road racing is much harder on timing chains due to extended periods of high RPMs.

For a street car or occasional drag racer it shouldn't be as much an issue.

I like my BBK, came with the 10% under H-B, and compensated Alt pulley. Just go with a SFI cert. one and you will be fine for racing.

Me and my boy have used ASP Pulley from our first ls1 head, cam and nos builds with no issues EVER. I have used it on three motors and him two. I have it on my 545hp 402ci and a 200 shot,he has has it on a 383ci w/200 shot and no issues or a thrown belt. Still factory parts holding the belt on for him.

This is good from a performance standpoint, but bad from an engine protection standpoint. But, I am glad you are having a good experience so far.

You need to realize its not just a "PULLEY" its a harmonic balancer / damper.

You need something like an ATI or BHJ or dont waste your money.
This is the way I just went after doing the research.

^^^ I have to completely agree, the 10% ATI "Harmonic Balancer" has been shown as effective in dyno results as the 25% "pulleys" offered from others just do to the fact that it is a properly balanced to reduce vibration which will also protect you from possible part failure in the future. It comes down to the typical "you get what you pay for"

I totally agree with the harmonics issue. What about Fliudampr or March's fluid type pulley? Do they get the job done or better than ASP, etc.?

Charging in my A4 and the SLP pulley didn't get along, so I reverted to stock. I didn't want to raise the idle RPM, or buy a new alternator or alternator pulley.
