TSP 1 7/8" and Plug Wires Is this going to be a problem?
Just the boot is touching, but it's clearly pushing the boot over. I have 8 heat boots/sleeves, but... well, I really like the color of these Granatelli wires with my setup
Do I need to put wire boots/sleeves on these?
Oh, and the new 1 7/8" fit like a DREAM with a tubular k-member, as well if not better than my Pacesetters did!

Ahh man..it might take awhile but I beleive they'll start to melt. You can always drive for a few hundred miles and check them.
But with them making contact already they'll absorb more heat, as oppossed to if their was a 1/16" gap in there.

MSD Super Conductor 8.5mm wires. they have bendable (shape-able) boots. you can bend them away from the header, only way to go! i have had them for 5 years now, and taken them off plenty of time, never had a failure or a problem with contacting the header

pretty expensive wires to test that on...I have 8 of those heat sleeves for plug wires, but they would almost certainly rest on the primary anyway with these boots. Will they save the boots? Or do I have to go get black MSD wires to provide a gap?

I don't think you'll be able to bend those heat shields without kinking them. I'd take a razor blade and cut some of the boot off where it contacts. I don't think it'll hurt anything.

Hmm, cutting the boot certainly won't be difficult, but could I avoid this with the heat sleeves? I had two on before the TSPs, but only because the boot was really close to the flange... Supposedly they're rated to 1200DGF?

i know you like the blue color, but the MSD wires have also been proven to have the least resistance and the most efficient wire for out F-body cars. just FYI
you can always just paint them! or sleeve the wires with the blue outer of a bigger wire. the MSD's are only 8.5

I took the stock metal protectors off and slid all 8 heat sleeves on, so time will tell. I didn't trim the boots, so this will be a sort of experiment to see just how effective these sleeves really are. I'll get some pictures posted tomorrow...

Ran MSDs for 3 years and they still look brand new. Recently switched over to Taylor thundervolt 10.4 for my coil relocation kit. No difference even though theyre way bigger and a nicer wire.
If the boot is touching the header's it's going to melt. I would run the protective boots. If the boot is touching primary it's not going to burst into flames. It will how ever transfer the head through it and may still melt the wire a little.

So here's what I did. I think it's a good compromise, but the boot wouldn't bend with slight force and I didn't want to risk breaking a wire because these things are a solid core. The sleeve is double layered, and it's much more substantial than the DEI sleeves at Autozone/Advance. It bends, but they're stiff sleeves so I feel a bit more comfortable.
What do you guys think?
Oh, and here's my clearance with Hotchkis springs and a TSP Y that I beat into place and probably could have spent more time adjusting for clearance... I'm happy
