Default For Those Seeking QUIET Duals DUMPED!

Before (LOUD):

After (QUIET):

I just had the 3" Flowtech Afterburners removed from my dumped X pipe setup and replaced them with 3" Magnaflow 4x9 Ovals.

I can enjoy my car again!!!

Granted, the previous setup was damn mean sounding, but the sound levels at idle and drone at highway cruising speeds were wearing thin on me.

So, for those seeking a quiet setup, dumped at axle, with a clean, "tuned" sound to it, go with the Magnaflows.

Here's some great info which proved very accurate (most of us are familiar with this list):

The results in HP order:
1.Flowtech Warlock (open) 374.2 hp/ 333.1 tq
2.Bassani Real Street 373.7 hp/ 333.8 tq
3.Hooker Maxflow 373.5 hp/ 333 tq
4.Borla XS 373.3 hp/ 332.6 tq
5.Magnaflow 372.8 / 332.5 tq
6.MAC 372.3 hp / 331.5 tq
7.Flowtech Afterburner 372.3 hp/ 330.1 tq
8.Hooker Aerochamber 372.1 hp/ 330.4 tq
9.Bassani 372 hp/ 333.5 tq
10.Spintech 371.6 hp/ 332.2 tq
11.Edelbrock Performer RPM 370.9 hp / 331.3 tq
12.Borla XR1 370 hp/ 334 tq
13.Flowtech Terminator 369.5 hp / 331.3 tq
14.Dynomax Ultra Flo 369.4 / 333.2 tq
15.Flowmaster 369.4 hp / 331.8 tq
16.Flowtech Warlock 366.3 hp / 325.3 tq
17.No muffs 365.2 hp / 330.1 tq

Sound Off in Quietest to Loudest (Decibels):

1.Borla XS, 80db at idle, 90db at 2,000 rpm, 110db at WOT.
2.Hooker Maxflow, 80db at idle, 90db at 2,000 rpm, 120db at WOT.
3.Magnaflow, 82db at idle, 91 at 2,000 rpm, 114db at WOT.
4.Flowmaster, 82db at idle, 93 at 2,000 rpm, 115db at WOT.
5.Flowtech Warlock, 83db at idle, 92 at 2,000 rpm, 112db at WOT.
6.Dynomax UltraFlo, 83db at idle, 94 at 2,000 rpm, 113db at WOT.
7.Borla XR1, 83db at idle, 96db at 2,000 rpm, 118db at WOT.

Hmm looks like someone replaced more than the exhaust. Where did the 10bolt go?

Yeah, Magnaflows rock - but that big of a muffler really limits ground/floorboard clearance. Get out the rubber mallet!

Going from the Flowtech Afterburners to the Magnaflow 4x9 Ovals (which are smaller by the way), I GAINED clearance.
No fitment issues. The Oval shape even keeps them further away from the fuel lines (which I wrapped in heat resistant tape this time).

Here's a view from behind the car:

Looks sweet, I'd like to try something like that if it wasn't too loud to live with as a daily driver.

How loud is it compared to a Loud Mouth or GMMG?

Quieter than a Loudmouth. Comparable to a GMMG.

That's exactly what I plan on going with, looks great!
I know how loud the other mufflers are dumped under the car and for that very reason I'm going with either the Maganflows or the Borla Pro XS mufflers. Can you explain exactly how loud on a scale of 1-10 it is now at 1) idle, 2) low rpm under load like highway driving at 70-75mph in 6th gear, and 3) WOT? Also if there is any resonance/drone at any rpm?

The only problem with the Borla's is that they are a little larger 14x9.5" case, and that little extra bit makes a big difference in fitting them in the limited space.
It's very encouraging to see some good feedback on the Magnaflows though, thanks

According to your chart, it looks like the Hooker Maxflow would have been quieter and made more power. Why didn't you go with them?

Told you the Magnaflows were your daddy in the last thread. Awesome results!

Might have been due to the size of Hooker Maxflow mufflers. They are 5" thick and wide so you can't tuck them up and ground clearance would literally be 2 inches on a stock car.

I need to change something on my duals as well. The dynomax ultraflos are starting to get annoying.

Yup, the Maxflows are too thick for my application.
