Angry Alternator Died On Me

Guys, I'm F#$!*@ mad. I just finished replacing the heads on my '00 SS and fired it up last night, but when I fired it up, I noticed that the battery voltage gauge only went up to around 12V(New Battery), and didn't go past that when I accelerated. So today I went to go get gas and noticed that the gauge dropped less the 12V and when I went to go pick up my dad from work the Volts went lower then 8V. I got to a red light and all of a sudden the stereo cut off and the light were dim, so I turn back around to go back home and two blocks away the electrical power to the car goes completely out and the car dies on me. I got a jump start and finally got home. I thought I was finally going to have some fun in this thing.

Has anybody tried one of those ebay alternators? I really don't want to pay $150+ for an alternator at Kragen and I found a new alternator for $70 on ebay. I really don't want to spend more money on this car.

I bought from here. They fully rebuild & thoroughly test. The price is the same as it was when I bought 3 years ago. Shipping was $22.35. No Core
This is not the higher output alternator. and this is not a **** site.....
Part #8242-5 Go to redirect, then Alternators, then GM Alternators, then scroll down about 80%-right hand column. http://www.hitepartsexchange.com/

I'm probably just going to wait till I get paid next week and buy the alternator. I actually work at O'reilly Auto Parts, but didn't want to spend $100+ on an alternator. I don't want to spend anymore money on this car right now. That's part of the reason why I asked about the $70 alternator on ebay.

I found one for the same price with a two year warranty, so I'll probably get that one.

Just a quick story...I bought a rebuil pwr steer pump from Advance. It cost $90+ dollars. the finish was terrible, and it leaked!
I returned it, then bought the same model rebuilt from AutoZone. It didn't leak, the finish was great, and it only cost $38.
So, even though I bought the more expensive, it didn't guarantee a better pump.
Car parts are like a box of chocolates...you never know whether you're your gonna get fu#$ed! lol

Well, I read a bunch of reviews from their customers on their experience and it seems like they were all very happy with the service and the parts, so I bought it. I checked their site out and they even have parts for older cars. I have a '74 Vette and they have parts for them too. They even had the same brand carpet set that I purchased from a reputable restorations parts source that I bought it from. I'll let you guys know how it goes. The two year warranty was a plus for me.

Oh, I actually bought this one:
https://www.partstrain.com/store/?N=...Ntt=REPP330116

They also had a 10% discount code, which was also great.
