Stripped the threads or rounded the head off? If you stripped the threads, you could try to turn it while you have a buddy apply force to pull it out (maybe by gently prying with the edge of a screwdriver). One of you will have to be under the car. If you rounded the head, Sears has some special sockets just for that.

Sounds like you just rounded off the head, which is 100x better than the threads. You can use vice grips, or like cm02WS6 said, head to Sears and you should be able to find some special tools that will do the trick.

You need a turbo socket set.
They are designed to grab rounded off fasteners.

The kit at Sears may fit the bill. If not, I've used Matco's version successfully. Similar principle to the Sears pieces, except you hammer them on and they bite into whatever's left of the bolt head in the process.

The Matco kit works great for rounded-off rocker bolts.

I was gonna say if you stripped the threads just go ahead and shoot yourself in the face.

Yeah the head could of been fixed but you more then likely would of had to pull it off the car which is no fun at all. Glad you got it fixed, the same thing happened to my friend and he had to go get one of those tools from sears.
