It all depends on how you do it. If you cut it off and leave it dumped it sounds like crap. If you remove the muffler and put pipe in and have it come out the back, it sounds great. I will take pictures and a video tomorrow of my exhaust. Sounds almost identical to a LM1.

I hacked off my dynomax bullet that was on my tsp cat back. It sounds similar to my buds LM2. I'm running that set up for now until I can get my shorties, custom catless x with bullets (cali car). By the way my pipes go over the axle and tuck behind the bumper so they really don't sound dumped. Not too bad imo!

I did it for a while. Completely stock except for a lid. It felt like I lost some power by doing it, but it sounded loud and not too bad... I only had it like that for about a month though. Fun to do if your bored and broke.

I agree 100% with blkdvll. my set up is identical to his except my is piped into my slp center mount exaust tip. I get many people asking what kind of exaust the car has, and many complements on the way it sounds. It's mild around town and has a great bark when you hammer on it. Basic rule if you hack it off and leave it redneck style it will sound like crap. Spend a little time and effort and you wont be dissapointed.

It will sound like an open cutout with a stock setup. Its not running through a muffler.
Im stock with no muffler dumped off the y pipe and I like it. It sounds a little like an LM1 to me. If you want Ill take a vid and upload it
