Exclamation Catalytic Converter Suggestions?

'02 SS here.

I had the factory passenger side Cat replaced w/ a no-name aftermarket cat from my local muffler shop after the car started throwing codes (5 days after purchasing).

Now, if you stand outside the passenger door in sandals after the car has been run for abit, its so hot that it starts burning the skin on your feet. I have also noticed a fair amount of hot air coming up through the emergency brake handle if I've been running the car hard.

Due to the fact this happened right after I bought the car, I do not know if this amount of heat was present all along, or if it was caused by my exhaust work.

Do you think this is b/c of the cat? If so, what would be a good replacement I could order online and have installed at a muffler shop? This car is my daily driver so I don't want to go extreme, just good quality and good price

+1 This would help, but what you're describing does not really seem like a bad cat to me. Also, judging by the things listed in your sig, all you have is a catback. That surely shouldn't be generating any extra heat into the inside of the car, so I almost would totally exclude anything related to the exhaust at this point.

No, it's not throwing any codes. Computer gas milage and gauges are all fine. Ugh, looks like a trip to a mechanic is in my future...

My '93's factory single cat (under the passenger side hump) clogged and did the same thing - heat coming through the trans tunnel and hard to get in the passenger side without feeling like the hair was melting into your legs. Replaced with an 'allflow' cat
