If you are doing a budget build and a mild cam, I would look into some cheap 243 heads and not even worry about porting or milling, just something to help with a decent cam. I got mine for $500 off of here.

Skips the heads-you don't need them. Cam bolt ons and tune with LS6 intake as mentioned above

The mom comment was harsh. I apologize.

However, I don't care what your location is, 200 for a mill job is nonsense. The day I'm quoted that, is the day I find a new machine shop.

Case and point here is, a freshend up set of 243's or 799's with heavier valves is the best bang for the buck in this case.

I called a local shop today and they quoted me 375 bucks for a valve job and mill. Another 100 if the guides needed attention.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. You agree that the prices you were "quoted" are insane...and you also agree that we found better prices for the same work...

So why are you arguing with us?

I just seen a pair of ls2 243's go for 350 bucks...add 375 to that for a valve job and mill and your at 725 bucks. With a good 3 angle valve job on 243's, you gain a lot of flow, and can easily pick up 20 horse and then some by putting these in place of the stock heads.

Default My Buddys 98 trans am

His 98 trans am with the magic stick 4 cam, Long tubes, 4000 yank, 12 bolt with spool 430 gear, and ory with cut out, stock ls1 intake all bmr under car and slicks and roll cage not much weight reduction. All yea 150 shot went 10.48 @ 124 and that was on texes speed mail order tune .So I would say those heads our fine unless your looking for a full out race car, or just like to spend money. Hell my 99 with 2800 stall , long tubes ,and 228 588 cam, bbk intake and tb and true duels on drag tires is going high 11s and its vary well street mannard

4000 stall and sticky tires. Done. 7's aren't that hard with auto cars.

If you need heads OR a cam to get into the 7s you're doing something wrong.
