Default Quieting the LM/Header exhaust --> H/C soon

I have long tube headers, random tech cats, loudmouth.
Other than that, it's stock.
It's right about where I want it loudness wise, but I'm doing
more mods. It's a little RASPY but I can live with it.

I'm getting a 228/228 .590 lift 114LSA cam
and some Stage II heads installed.
I know it's going to be louder because of the cam
and there will be LOPE.

I want to TONE it down some, so I was thinking a BULLET
muffler where the loudmouth resonator is. I'm not sure
if that will be enough.

OR

Put a muffler in the stock location.

Anyone go through this situation?

How much is the LOUDNESS of the car going to change?
I understand it will idle higher, probably 900 RPM, so the idle
will be louder because of more RPM, but how much MORE
louder will it be because of the cam vs. what I have now.

How much is thd DRIVING LOUDNESS of the car going to change?
Right now it's fine. I am even a little afraid when a cop is near.
BUT I"VE heard harley-Davidsons that are WAY louder than mine
so I usually just relax again and keep driving(grandma syle of course,
no need to advertise!)

I'm guessing that the bullet would hardly affect performance at all.
I'm guessing that that muffler would affect performance more so, maybe
lose 10RHP?

thanks.

you could check into a borla xr1 muff instead of the bullet. Its going to be loud if you use a straight through muffler.

i doubt you would lose more that 5whp by swapping out a muffler though, the cats are going to be the big restriction on a h/c car.

I have LT's, no cats, and the LM with a bullet, it was ungodly loud except at idle. I was driving around shifting at 2k because over that it starts popping like it had glass packs on it. I finally found the Moroso spiral muffler, it got rid of most of the noise but it seems to be restrictive as hell. I am not sure how much HP i lost but you can sure notice the difference. I am looking for other options right now and i may end up ditching the LM altogether. You might want to look at selling yours and finding another catback, the LM has a y-connection when it goes over the axle and a stock type muffler won't fit.
