If AEM makes an FBody DryFlow panel filter, will you buy it? I had a really constructive conversation with a representative from AEM last week. No, this wasn't the guy that answers the phones. I asked for someone in "new product development".....
Long story short, I explained who I was, what forum I belong to, and what I myself feel is the need for a panel filter that is washable and oiless.
I explained that I'm aware K&N & AEM are technically the same, so i wasn't trying to step on toes, but that there are a LOT of people who are NOT pleased with the K&N due to oily MAF issues and a lack of filter media, to say the least.
I learned that it's no issue for them to make a "DryFlow" panel filter for us, as they have access to the same molds that K&N uses.
Again, I reiterated what forum I belong to, how many members we have (I think I got that # right) and that I'd be posting a thread on here to gauge interest. They said they will definately check the thread and see just how much interest there would be for a Dryflow panel filter.
I myself run an AMSOil, but I want a filter I can WASH, not just blow out.
Cast your votes, gents. Please. And feel free to offer ideas to make them better.
I myself suggest a larger foam surround like the AMSOil for better lid seal without the use of weatherstripping.

I think that would be great!!! I dot have a Camaro but personally I think they should just come out with a line of drop in replacements for vehicles like k&n. I've used k&n before and they can cause all kinds of issues, plus by the time you clean your k&n it takes you and hour to since you have to wait for the dam thing to dry... Again I think they should produce drop in replacements, their quality filters and they function like a k&n with out the mess

If AEM and K&N are the same company why didn't they make a type of filter you describe from the beginning. Either way I've had a K&N filter in my SS from day one with ZERO issues at all. I follow the instructions perfectly and be careful to not put too much oil on the filter.
But YES I would buy a hi-flo filter if it did not require the oiling aspect.

I would consider it. I wouldn't replace my K+N with it however bc oily MAFs aren't an issue when you follow directions making that a mute point. The wet medias flow so well because physical filtration is less (allowing air to flow better) and the minute filtering is done by the oil. By making the filter dry only, you will need a denser media to capture the smallest particles, therefor somewhat negating the purpose and putting you back to basically square one where you just purchase an Amsoil paper filter and be done...replacing as necessary obviously.

A big YES !
I also have the AMSoil dry air filter, and all the dirt/dust particles don't come out with using my shop vac, so a washable dry filter would be nice!
The larger foam surround like the AMSOil I also agree with, it gives a good seal.

I would have. I heard about AEM stuff when I used to have a Jeep. I wanted to buy one for my Camaro but I figured out that they didn't make them for my car. I bought a K&N instead. After reading posts and tests on K&N and other brands... I decided to go with AFE instead.
