I spoke a little too soon haha.

I went for a ride and my SES began flashing about 6-7 times, then it stayed solid (The SES light). I immediately turned around and went home just in case. My friend who installed is coming over tomorrow to check the codes. It could be a spark plug not connected all the way (the rear passenger side one), not too sure lol.

Too early to say anything, but it sure does sound great with the headers installed haha. Some of it needs to be worked on and moved around (the exhaust), could be an exhaust leak or pinging (I can't remember if I accidently put 87 in before I brought the car in for the work to be done-- I got my PCM programmed for a 93 tune, so it could be pinging. I will put the old computer back in and run the 87 out then fill up with premium...sucks that I can't remember if I accidently put the 87 grade in because I filled my truck up 10 minutes prior about 2 weeks ago)-- I'm no mechanic so I can't tell ya haha. Hard to describe what I'm hearing.

No worries, tomorrow is a new day!

Yeah I think I saw one of your posts while I was searching on the situation, didnt you have the same issue?

-With the Polys, I think the only difference is you have to get used to starting from 1st again like one poster before me had mentioned. My tranny mount was in pretty bad shape, so it was good that I replaced it. My buddy was cursing at me and the car while he had to install them (the MM's), haha

The joys of having a back-up vehicle, lol!

Haha yeah thanks for bringing up that painful memory. I got the install done at 3:15am, hadn't slept in over 24 hours and I was so excited to have it done that I started it up and drove it home. The SES started flashing and then would stay solid for a little while. I didn't know what it meant so I kept driving. Found out after I drove the car about 60 miles on the freeway back to my house I googled and realized how bad the situation was. Checked under the hood and realized the coil packs weren't connected to the wiring harness all the way. I was really lucky that no major damage appeared to have occurred. Big thanks to GM for making the LS1 so well

The number 8 cylinder sparkplug was cracked. What a pain in the *** that one is to get out. SES light went off after.

Unfortunately, there is some weird noise coming from the passenger-side still. Perhaps something valvetrain related-- it increases with RPM but then goes away, and say if I put it into neutral from like 3,500rpm...it's like a "sputtering" noise. It's really hard to describe this guys lol me and my friend who did the work are pretty baffled. And a mysterious metal clanking somewhere between 1200-1500rpm's...it almost sounds like metal to metal vibrating-- maybe exhaust related...can't pinpoint where the heck its coming from.

But now with 8 cylinders..man she pulls like a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is zero performance decrease from said noises, this car hauls some *** now. Suspension upgrade time haha. Hopefully this isn't anything major with the mystery noise. I will try to take a video on my phone, maybe someone could hear what the hell I am trying to describe lol

If your buddy installed the paper gaskets with the headers instead of reusing the stock multilayer steel gaskets, that could be your sputtering noise...

I have a valvetrain type of noise myself. It could be an exhaust leak or just hearing detonation or something, not sure. I had the car put on a lift and a stethoscope used and it wasn't coming from the top of the engine. It sounded like it was coming from underneath the car around the passenger side collector or up a little bit more. We haven't figured it out yet but I've heard of some other people with the same thing.

Here's the video, pardon the quality-- I made it from my EVO...

What I am trying to demonstrate is the noise. Notice after I hit the throttle, when I release it there the noise "sputters" back down. I am focusing on the passenger side, the driver's side has no such noises like this.

As for the gaskets, I used the ones that TSP sells.

I'm going to go for a drive and see if I trigger the SES light again. It seemed to go away after reset and replacement of number 8 cracked sparkplug. As for the boot in number 8, I am sure it is on there. I have small hands and was able to fit them to get a decent grip. I am not overly concerned about the noise per-say (As long as I am not damaging my engine in any way I'm okay with it), but hey-- I don't think that noise was there prior.

Went for a drive. SES Began flashing 5-6 times, then it stopped.

Then drove down the road a few miles, SES came on and stayed on.

Will be parking it until my friend can get to it next week. Brought it to Autozone and used the diagnostic tool-- the code that came up was P0300-- Multiple random misfires.

Its really easy to crack or break a spark plug...I would change them all and check all the plug wires for bad spots. IF that doesnt fix it, then you have a bad coil pack most likely. If you found one cracked plug, there is a good chance you may have more. They dont have to be super tight. Just snug them up in the head, just a little grunt...not real tight.
