Amsoil Drop-In Air Filter EAA-83 Review
Just wanted to share my experience with this particular filter. I have a stock lower box assembly with the Blackwing lid. Prior to having this filter I had a K&N drop-in. According to Amsoil's site these filter do a great job of filtering and are serviceable for up to 4 years. Cost shipped to my door from Amsoil's site was $57.83. What they don't do is fit. The rubber gasket around the perimeter of the filter is HUGE. I assume that their idea is to provide a nice tight seal, which makes sense. I tried moving things around bellow wise and clamp wise with no luck. I could get the back tabs in and get the 2 front latched to latch, but after popping my hood twice, I found the back 4 tabs popped out. After speaking with an Amsoil tech I was told that the "snug" fit is normal and that the gasket would mold to my box and lid over time (again this makes sense, however I can't get it to stay closed for it to form to the lid!!!) Put the K&N back in, and it latched perfectly...

How do you guys like the Amsoil filter, I have considered getting it before. I have a K&N filter now and really just don't like it because to me if it claims to flow more than it has to not be filtering as much. I have looked at these and I have considered getting a filter from a parts store like Orileys.
For the price it seems pretty good, 4 year service life that's not bad.

Everyone has their own experiences good or bad with both filters. For me, I just bought an Amsoil filter, and immediately changed back to the K&N. Like stated above, I may have some tolerances off on my lid and lower box. Fact is, I flat out couldn't even give the Amsoil a chance because the airbox wouldn't stay closed...
K&N - Flows better and fits better.
Amsoil - Filters better
