Default typhoon intake

so i found someone selling a typhoon intake for 350 with a bbk throttlebody, or 200 for the intake alone with fuel rails. now i know this is a good deal he only used for a mock up so its new and everything is pristine. so do you guys think i should invest? mixed emotions on the intake and heat sink welcome (not really worried with the changing of the seasons soon)

Thats not a bad deal. Yes aluminum does soak heat, but not like the old school intakes with coolant flowing through it.
It will not make the power a FAST 92 or a 102 would make, but not far off and significanlty cheaper...I wouldnt hesitate to buy it for that coin.

Like mine. I tossed my ls6 intake for a polished 85 mm typhoon. I opened up the snout to almost 90mm and use a 90mm Ls7 throttle body. I am retuning on Friday and will post dyno results to my typhoon thread. My motor is not stock, so I am taking advantage of the 6900rpm capability of this intake. My ls6 crapped out at 6300rpm. Heat soak? My mani never gets to hot to where I can't touch it. And it pulls in the mid range and top end more than my ls6 did, after tuning I'll see more gains. And it's the best looking Mani out there as well

Plenty of threads about this piece, including my measurements
of heat soak. Dig for it.

Ditch that piece of crap aluminum intake. I had a Typhoon intake a few years back and I thought is was great until I ran my car at the track with it. My mph kept getting slower every pass because of the heat soak. I started the day out at 118 mph and after about 6 passes I mph came down to 114. I swapped to a Fast 92 and picked up 36rwhp and 25rwtq. My mph came up to 122 and my et's went from 11.80's to 11.40's. Either find a cheap LS6 manifold or pony up some cash for a Fast manifold.

I agree with you there...but for the OP..if its a daily or he doesnt care about the quickest ET, the aluminum intake in fine.

Sure there wasnt knock retard or something else pulling MPH from your track times. I raced lots of vettes, for years at the track. L98s, Lt1s and ls1s. Of coarse the l98 and lt1 have aluminum intakes. Never lost miles per hour/trap speed with aluminum intakes. Our tack is closed now, we have a 1/4 stretch we run on now. Guys use gtechs and stuff. With my ls6 intake I was trapping at 119. I've only made 3 back to back to back passes with the typhoon and saw 120. All 3 times. Didn't even shut the car off, 3 straight runs. I'm sure i'LL pick up a couple more MPH Friday after I retune.
If someone is going to use a typhoon, upgrade the throttle body. Because when people compair afast to a typhoon, the typhoon usually has a stock or 80mm tbody on it. While the fast has a 90 or92mm throttle body. Of coarse the fast will show better number in that case. I'm using a 90mm ls7 throttle body. And no doubt this intake is showing better results in my trap speed than the ls6. I don't have an e.t. compairisons yet. Didn't have the gtech that night. The car sure pulls harder in the mid range though.
