I can post admitting I have never used a BBK, and I have an LS6 intake on my car, maybe I am a bit biased but oh well. I see 2nd gen fl 'bird says the BBK is the best bargain, I respectfully disagree. Now, a brand new LS6 intake can be st your front door for $490 (i got mine new for $490), and a used one for ~$300. After searching some dyno charts, an LS6 intake w/ a ported stock TB seems to produce about 5 less hp than the BBK w/ the BBK85mm TB. However, the BBK intake alone cannot be had for less than $490. Also, since the BBK intake has an 85mm inlet, the stock LS1 78mm TB would make the larger intake inlet diameter useless, you would want to buy a 85mm TB to utilize the larger inlet diameter. The 85mm BBK brand TB is ~$270, therefore, buying the BBK setup, the ~500 intake and ~$270 TB runs around $760. Pay $300 for a used LS6 and spend a couple hours to port your TB and you'll be about 3hp less than the ~$760 BBK setup. Granted, the BBK pretty looks cool and all, but putting money into the equation, the LS6 intake is surely the best option. I went with the LS6 and am happy

490.00 for a BBK? Hell no! I thought they were around 400.00 new. That's why I said buy BBk over a 400.00 LS6. Agreed, 300.00 LS6 and ported stock TB would be the best route for the money. BBk intake/TB new is getting into FAST territory prices. It never ends!! LOL
I have said enough on this thread.
Good luck with the intake OP

You see what you did there? You apparently have not even looked at the price of the BBK at all. You disagreed with me saying "Hell no!" and followed it with, "I thought they were around $400 new." You disagree, and reply with a what you thought the price was around, no. I looked around and found the cheapest one to be $474.99, and the BBK TB is actually $300.

OP, just get a used LS6 and be done with it. Don't even consider the BBK, thats nonsense.
You do realize that gm went to the LS6 intake on the NEWER vehicles right? That would generally indicate a better design.
Swapping to LS6 coolant lines cuts off "steam" or coolant lines (whichever you want to call it) from the rear of the engine. Seems to me that leaving GM's years of engineering alone and simply grinding the the fins from the bottom of the intake is the safest route. IMO it is better to leave the LS1 lines as GM intended them to be and just grind to fit.

Honestly even if the ls6 cost a little more than bbk and still had 3hp less I would prolly still go with it for the sheer fact that so many ppl use it and are happy with it. Being that its proven itself time and time again is enough to justify it at its current price and in my eyes even at a higher price tag
