Default heat shield banging?

i've got Pacesetter LTs/ORY+stock exhaust+cutout(right before the muffler)
anyways i've kinda fixed the normal Pacesetter banging problems...like the driverside header and the ORY right under the driver floorboard...but now it seems as if i have another banging problem now but its comming from out back...i think there might be a heat shield or something that's hitting my pipe (the one that extends over the axel), anyways if i remove that is it going to cause any kinda heat problems?

or what if i just put some hi-temp rubber in there to stop the banging...will it hold up to the heat as well?
thanks

I removed the exhaust(cat) heat shielding on my car. Left the stuff that covers the brake and fuel lines.

are we talking about the same heat shield?
i know there is one right by each cat...but the one i am talking about is the one wayyyyy in the back of the car, right where the I-pipe bends over the axel?

Opps.. yeah, leave that one alone

I'd talk to a good exhaust shop..

My exhaust got tweaked before (big speed bump). The exhaust shop cut that section and repositioned it to move it away from that shield.

Just hammer it back a little. A lot of Corsa users run into this problem, nothing a hammer won't fix or at least help

I have the same problem. Every time I have the car in for something, be it an oil change or whatever, I have them hammer the heat shield back. That usually works for some time. I'd love to hear a long term solution though.

My I-pipe banged the gas tank heat shield until I
rehung it just-so. If you shim the pipe away from it
well, before tightening the band clamp, this may do
it for you.
