Show the shops the pic I posted. It fits fine. My tips line up and everything.

You guys make a good point! I really want to just cut out the LM resonator, and have the Magnaflow welded in...that's it. Obviously it can be done (Sail Hatan even has a damn pic showing so lol) so i'm going to approach it like suggested, and see where that gets me.

Thanks

BTW, does anyone happen to have the actual specs of the LM 1 resonator? I'm not sure if it's a universal resonator for the LS1, or if it's LS1 specific, and has different dementions

And the resonator, I believe they only make one lm1 resonator.

Yep, I think it's a universal resonator too.

I don't get why so many muffler shops have an issue with changing an exhaust system for *** sakes it's the only thing they do!!! I guess its just another reason why the economy sucks because people like that are to lazy/slash stupid to do it and make a buck so they just pass and wait for an "easy" job to show up. Good luck op not only with finding the sound your after but also with finding someone able to do the simple task you ask of them.

It'll be at least a week from now but I'll be cutting some 3.5" 'cannon' tips off a Magnaflow system if you'd be interested...

Remember, it is against Federal law to tamper with the emission system. So technically if you ask them to mess with that at all they should refuse the job. Simple cat back jobs should be a no brainer for them.

I totally get it if they are afraid to remove cats or 02 sensors for fear of being held responsible for breaking a federal law but most of the time that isn't the problem. Now let's assume you retain both cats and all 02's and you want a true dual off of that it's still a cat back that they are installing so they are just as liable regardless of the configuration correct? Please don't take my comments as anger towards you I just hate how lazy society has come as whole.

Damn I really like the sound of the magnamouth and borlamouth. That's probably gonna be the route I go once I do LTs and ORY, but both sound good to me. Hard decision.

Add a FM merge in your Y pipe. That will help ALOT with the partial throttle rasp.

Okay I have finally found a shop that will do this...and for about $125. Now it has been brought to my attention that just by switching to the Magnaflow 14419, and not changing anything else, that it will not do much at all in the way of eliminating the rasp. Anyone have any thoughts on this? From what Dr Whigham has said it looks like it does make a big difference in that area, but i'm open to other feedback as well

MR2liter, what is this "FM merge" that you speak of? How much do you think it would cost to have it thrown on with the muffler? I found a local shop that will pretty much do whatever I ask lol

Flowmaster Merge. The reason Fbody's have rasp and corvettes don't is the difference in the exhaust systems. The Y pipe is a terrible set up, especially when two 3" pipes slam into one 3" pipe which is what most all Y pipes are. The FM merge is a 3" in and 4" out. It wont eliminate all rasp but it will help alot. Look for a thread PatG made a while ago about making 500whp NA. There is a great pic of the FM in that thread. Good luck.

Shhhhhhh Don't say that too loud. You will anger the TD gods... But thanks and I agree even a friend that has had 2 TD setups agrees. It sounds even better in person.
