Default Removing A/C, possibly Heat?

My A/C compressor froze up. and id rather have money into something else, then fix it. I also enjoy the look of a cleaner engine bay. now that I have a daily driver, the car wont need AC and heat as much. the heat i might need, but again I have the daily driver, and no heater box would be nice. how hard is it to remove the A/c? anyone have deleted AC engine bay pics?

My last f body had a hard top and no AC, I dont think I minded that much if I remember correctly. I want to really clean up my engine bay, and since I have a heavy trans am, Id like to start shedding some weight.

I did it to my old IROC like 20 years ago.

I fabbed up a low profile cover for the firewall out of fiberglass.
I think you can buy them now a days.

I kept my heater.

I would keep the heat. I recommend pulling the dash to do it.

I made my own delete plate and did it from the engine bay with the motor still in the car.

If I had to do it again I'd pull the dash in a heart beat.

What all comes out? Compressor, condenser, lines, that canister, pulley? The big plastic box is the heater? Or part of the AC?

one of the best mods you can do....
saves you about 100 lbs if you remove all the HVAC stuff

Remove the Compressor, the condenser, the lines, the stuff inside the car behind the dash...
you can cap off the inlet/outlet for the heater hoses on the water pump...easier than making a bypass hose that really doesnt do anything different than capping it off.(buy the cheap rubber cap kit at any auto parts store and a couple of worm clamps)

I actually added back in a heater....Mojave.. lightweight...
thing weighed less than the stock stereo did
if you add one, you dont have to put it where I did... but this was mine...

HVAC firewall plate was made by Bob ette over at AEICNC.com

I completely disagree. I think it's one of the dumbest mods you can do unless you have an all out racecar, which apparently soundengineer does but It really doesn't sound like the OP does....

his AC is toast... and he is ok with removing it....
I gave him an option for adding back Heat.... which the Mojave heater will cook your *** as well as anybody else in the car.

Its a great mod...and its a mod that most people dont even think about as an option
I'd do it in a heartbeat to any car I was thinking about getting rid of the AC on...

you'll regret losing heat if you remove it and drive the car if its cold out. we just took an air chisel to mine and busted up the fiberglass box and got it flush with the firewall then built a panel to cover it. Heat works just like factory

I'll agree that it sucks to drive cold....
which is why I added back in the heater on mine

I elected for the Mojave because I needed to gut my dash for weight reasons, and the mojave was so light weight and easy to add back in as its small and compact
