Starters dont fit after 700 r4 install on LS1
So I adapted my 700 r4 tranny to my LS1 that I swapped into my 93 C4 vette and am unable to find a starter that will fit, Ill explain.
I used this flexplate from summit racing with the spacer and bolts already included, part number ATP-Z270

I drilled the hols out to fit the 700r4 T/C and everything mated together really well. however when I went to install the starter I got off of a 98 trans am the flexplate was to close to the block and it came in contact with the starter housing.... I have since tried starters from a 01 corvette, an early 2000's silverado and a high torque mini starter that I got off ebay (not name brand here is a link to it though) It is also a flat flexplate so I put the spacer in between the crank and the block.

I just need to know where I went wrong or what is going on here... I just want to drive the car and the swap is all done minus the starter. It makes no sense to me why summit would sell a flexplate that will not accept a starter.... maybe I'm messed up
