MD Emissions?
Here is a question i live in MD if i ran LT's and ORY plus ditch the EGR/AIR on my 98' TA would it be possible to go though emissions here? I would have it properly tuned so no CEL was on but that last time there a few years back they did a cat visual i know there are plenty F bodys running around setup like this how do they get by?

Haha, not yet! I'm on a college students budget so it's pretty much stock right now other than the O/R Y and catback.
But yeah, all they did was scan it for codes and he did check under it with the mirror. But the guy either didn't know what he was looking at, or he just didn't care because it only took him about 2 minutes to "inspect" and give me a pass.

I have taken a few of my cars there for emissions without cats and never failed. As long as you have the CEL cleared and the necessary miles put on it afterwards you should be fine. Ive actually had them walk around my cobra with a mirror and still pass it even though there are no cats.
Its the luck of the draw depending on who you get.

Before I did my swap my car was turbo with no cat and no muffler and it passed. I'm not sure what they are looking for with the mirror on a stick....but I doubt it's exhaust related. lol

My Trans Am recently passed with no issues at the Westminster location. I've got a MS4 cam with 3" duals and no cats. While running the lope from the cam was shaking the rafters of the building to the point that all the employees came out from the office to investigate I bet they're were more than a handful of people there that were thinking WTF just happened - how did that car pass?!
The visual is a joke. They briskly walk around the car with a mirror by their feet - even if they actually looked (they weren't) they wouldn't know what to look for.

Well, if you happen to get the one person in MD that does give a **** and checks seriously with the mirror like I did with my Magnum. Then all you have to do is get 2 of these and go get them welded up for cheap.

Digging up an ancient and only partially related thread here...I have an LS3 in my 2001 BMW E39 Wagon and I just "failed" the emissions test because their system failed communicate with my car. I know there are some protocol differences between my engine and what my car came with from the factory, anyone go through this in MD? My bluetooth scan tool hooks up without any issue and shows the BMW Vin, but the MVAs tool does not seem to be auto-negotiating or something. Anyone have any insight while i dig into this as much as I can? The MVA just says that the OBD2 isn't communicating.
