Default Dyno without exhaust to see if cutouts help?

I was wondering if it is possible to dyno an engine with very basic exhaust setup. Once I have that number, then I could add an exhaust setup and get a final dyno at a later time. I then could tell if a cutout would be useful or not. Is this logical at all? I would rather not add the extra weight of a cutout if it'll only give me 1hp. (what is the weight of an electric cutout?)

From my understanding if you already have a full exhaust (headers, ORY, and a good muffler) Then the cutout won't help a lot in the hp department, but the sound will be definitely noticeable.

I've witnessed a gain of 50 hp with cut outs open, but it was on a 300 shot lol
