Default Will a Volant CAI choke my 408?

I just got a 408 and have a Volant CAI(dual cone filters)from my previous motor and am wondering if it will choke my 408? It has a 85mm MAF and will be spraying it through a plate system! What kinda induction are you guys using for your 408? Would a lid flow better?

get rid of the MAF completely and swap out that volant CAI for something else.

If I go with a speed density tune, what kinda CAI should I go with then?

That's what I'm working on now. Been digging around for a twin cone setup with substantial flow and 4" outlet, thinking I need to fab a y-pipe if the Volant can't flow enough.

OP: the most restrictive part of your intake is the 85mm MAF. Get a larger housing or ditch it completely. Air can only flow as much as the smallest section, the rest will be limited by the most restrictive part. Don't matter if you have a 6" intake pipe everywhere else, it still needs to get through you MAF.

I don't believe you can get the Volant to fit the 85mm MAF. I was going to have an aluminum Y made for it to fit but went with a FTP lid instead

So I ditched the Volant and went with a lid but now the MAF is being maxed out by my 408! I will have to go speed density and eliminate the MAF but my question is: where do you guys get the tube(smooth bellow) to achieve this does any vendor sell it or is there some cheap coupling at Lowe's?

Can someone post up a pic of their lid not using a MAF?

If you want to keep MAF they make larger MAF units and 104mm lids to match with it. Saw them on TSP site last night.

At this point, I rather just go speed density! My car ain't a dd anyways and I don't drive it in bad weather. Just a weekend warrior/cruiser!
