Default Help picking cat back/cut out combo for Big Cam

Hello

I am trying to decide what catback cut out combo to go with, I have no problem building a custom system with separate mufflers but I need to get the car quieter than it is now, I would like to have the cutout so I can get loud and rowdy at times and get the flow when needed.

Right now I have a custom Off Road Y pipe (that is rotting and needs to be replaced) Slp LT headers and a Borla Mouth ( SLP Loudmouth with bullet swapped to Borla XR1) It sounds great at idle other than leaks from Y pipe but sounds shitty when full throttle or just cruising, it drones and is too raspy for me.

here is the H/C/I info
- Patriot LS6 Heads 64cc
- Speed Inc Cam 238/244 .605/.612 110 LSA
- LS6 Intake

My ultimate goal is to make is sound quiet while having a nice rumble when the cut out/s are/is closed and have the option for that I am going to eat your prius sound when needed with cut outs open

Any advice is appreciated

So what would you recommend?

Thanks
Jeremy

My TA has the slp power flo and it tames the sound down alot but still gives it a good sound IMO.

Imo, powerflo is nice but will still be on the loud side, the best option is a magnaflow catback, with a cutout, now with the mods and a ory the magnaflow sounds pretty good, and its the tamest catback there is,unless ya do a true dual with some magna paks over the axle and dual cutouts that is what i would do,magnaflow catback sounds pretty good i like it,just didnt have that sound i love but then again thats why you get a cut out

I have the mufflex hidden tip with the magnaflow, no drone, quite while cruising but loud when you get on it. I came from flowmaster with a cutout and am still satisfied with the sound.

Thanks for the info so far, I have considered the mufflex setup and even a TD setup. I will have to look for some sound clips. I may even just add some mufflers/resonators after the axle and before the tips and keep the catback, Anyone have good or bad experience with cutout brands?

Magnaflow catback with any cutout. Quiet when cruising and loud as hell at the flip of the switch.

seems loud in that video, is the cutout open at the end or in the beginning? Sounds mean though

Magnaflow, Magnaflow, Magnaflow. i cant believe how quiet it is!! i have LTs ORY and i have tried no mufflers, stock catback, flowtech catback and finally magnaflow catback..this thing is VERY tame! at idle it is absolutley quiet! it get loud above 3k-4k rpm which works out for me. i think with a cam it would rock. keep this updated.

Now i will add when i switched the magnaflow for some duals my big cammed car made way more power and pulled harder threw the hole rpm range, but for street car magnaflow n cutout is the best way to go,and the magnaflow catback looks the best

If I were to do a catback, I would opt for borla!

Magnaflow is to quiet. Sounds good though

I would first put some cats on it and then see what you think.

Thanks for the input. I am gonna have to look into magnaflow, Should I do the entire catback or just do a muffler and maybe some cats, I want this thing QUIET when the cutouts are closed, But still have a nice mellow rumble to it.

I would also recommend looking at the Hooker Aerochamber, it is known to be on the quite side. I will say though that it gets pretty loud at WOT.
