Default Chasing a cam only dyno number..

So I have a 2000 Trans Am.

Current Mods:
LGM G5X3 cam
Kooks 1 3/4 headers
3 in y pipe
cutout
volant cai
p&p throttle body

So pretty much stock intake manifold, heads, and untuned.

Just a couple weeks ago it dynoed at 379.8RWHP on a hot Florida day. I am not going to be satisfied until I am in the 4XXRWHP range.

So my question is can I make it to my goal with just the addition of an LS6 intake manifold? Realistically speaking of course.

LS6 intake will make a difference. Should get you near or above your mark. Your setup needs more air in to handle that cam and exhaust.

I can't really see 21rwhp from a LS6. Maybe 10-12rwhp add a underdrive pulley 5-8ish and wait for a cooler day. So the car hasn't been tuned at all?

It has minor tuning tweaks to help it idle but it definitely needs a good dyno tune.

I hope so. I just hate how different people will tell you different numbers. Some people will tell you 10-12hp and some say 15-20

I think an LS6 and a tune will get you to 400. Not just an LS6 though. I'm suprised it made 380 untuned.

I don't know how you're beating on the engine full throttle without any sort of tune. All those mods let it significantly more air than stock, all the while the stock tune is throwing enough fuel for stock airflow. With all that extra air and not anymore fuel you're probably running dangerously lean.

Not to mention that you would gain a ton of power with the right tune. I would not do anything more to that engine until you tune it properly.

Just curious, did you monitor the AFRs while on the dyno?

On a cammed car that needs to upper RPM breathing, the ls6 intake will make more than a stock internal car.

My friend with bolt ons and a 228 cam picked up .2 in the 1/8th mile consistently

A good tune alone could maybe get you there. With an LS6 intake, I would hope so. If not, find another tuner.

yea def get a tune with the ls6 intake. u are probably running 16:1 afr. dont go WOT anymore at all until u get a tune. that happened to me i did a bunch of mods, tested it out on the highway and i knew it didnt sound very healthy i was at 15.8:1 so i got it tuned right away and it made a huge difference. u will be about 12hp from the intake and another 10 or so from the tune to get you to 400.
