Default Holley Valve Covers on LS1??

Anyone ever do this? I'm in the process of swapping H/C on my LS1 so it would be a good time to do the swap but I see I would need truck or LS2 coils. Would I need a harness too? Where can I get it?
Where's the best place to get LS2/truck coils?

Are truck coils with heat sinks better than ls2 coils?

The truck coils with the heat sinks dont have the correct spacing or mounting configuration for the Holley covers. You would have to fab up some type of brackets for them to work.

Ive got a set along with ls7 coils but I heard that the coil harness needs to be re pinned for a 24t reluctor wheel. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Ah, good call. Now that I look closer at the pics I see you're right. The truck coils that will fit are different than the LS2 coils though. Which is better? Does it matter?

You just need to get the LS7 coil harness for each back as the coils have different connectors on them vs the ls1 style coils. The LS7 coil harnesses will plug right into your engine harness.

The non heat sink truck coils will work, however they are kinda tall & dont look very good on there imo. They also need the same harness as the LS2, 3 & 7.

The newer 07' & up trucks/tahoes use the same coils as the LS7, should be able to find a tone of those at the salvage yard. Stick with these, they are a better coil than the older non-heat sink truck ones. Here's a couple pics of them on my car.

Thinking about picking these up in black. The truck coils.without the heat sinks do fit these right?

The older 00-06' ones will work too, but like I said, they have a tall body on them.

Anyone try the ebay coils? $130 sounds better then OEM price. I'm in the same boat. Have the holley covers, but my truck coils won't fit. And I REALLY want to run the valve covers. But spending 400-500 on OEM coils ruins it. I wouldn't mind spending $200 for the harnesses and coils off ebay, but only is they have a decent rep.

I have the holley covers on my car. Fit great and no issues. I'll be smoothing and powdercoating them soon.

Just a quick question for anyone running these valve covers. Are they any thicker than the stock valve covers and do they reduce the noise of the valve train at all?

They seem to be a tad thicker. I haven't really listened to compare the two though on the sound.
