Default LQ9 vs L99 Water Pump pics

I'm replacing the water pump on my LQ9 build because my radiator has a driver's side outlet, but the LQ9 water pump has a passenger side outlet. Just thought someone might like to see the comparison.

This is the water pump for the 2010+ L99 Camaro (#19207665). It uses the same accessory spacing as the truck motors:

Good shout - wish i could get one over here.

I changed my pump & the rest of the acc's as the truck pump was so high it wouldn't clear the bonnet. If i'd have known about these pumps i'd have been happy!

Thanks for the.pics. I take it that this pump won't line up with cts accessories? I was going to run this pump on my 240sx/lq9 but need it to line up.

No, this one lines up with the truck accessories. You may want to look into the new LS3 pump part #19180610. It has the same layout as the L99 pump, but isn't offset as far as the L99 pump.

67rally, thanks for the pictures, this helps me alot.

I do have a question though, in looking at the second picture, it looks like the shaft area on the L99 pump is quite a bit shorter overall, like maybe 3/4". Is that correct or just an illusion?

Does anyone know if the LS3 or L99 is shorter overall? Im looking for just a bit more fan clearance.

The L99 is a little shorter than the LQ4/LQ9 water pump, but the belts line up in the same spot.

The LS3 pump looks the same as the L99, but from what I have read, it lines up with the '94-'12 LS1-LS7 Corvette drives and the '04-'12 LS based CTS-V drives. If that's the case, then it will be shorter as long as you don't have to shim it back out to the L99 position to line up with your belts.

I just took a comparison pic of the LQ9 and L99 pumps, there's only about 1/3" difference:

Great info! Im looking at using L99 water pump on a LQ9 in a 72 chevelle. I'm hoping to use the truck intake and acc other than a Holley ac bracket. Do you know if there would be any issuse with this pump and the truck Alt P/S bracket? Thanks

Sorry, I think there will be a couple of issues. The first is that the L99 pump uses a different tensioner than the LQ9. The L99 tensioner mounts with 2 bolts and the LQ9 with 3. Also if you try to use the LQ9 tensioner it won't line up with the belt (it sticks out way too far).

I also think the new driver's side outlet on the L99 pump will fall right in line with where the old belt and idler pulley are with the stock LQ9 layout.

Alright, I just googled this, and it looks like some others have gone this route as well, so it looks like you can clear the water pump outlet with a little creativity.

This is a pic from roadrunner69 here on ls1tech (sorry for stealing your photo) from this thread:https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ory-drive.html

I know Dirty Dingo sells an idler relocation bracket to take care of the idler pulley just above the PS pulley.

Well crap, that shoots my idea out of the water. I though the LS3 pump worked with truck accessories, figured the L99 might, guess not.

The LS3 pump won't work because the offset is wrong.

The L99 will work for the offset, but it looks like you'll need to buy the L99 tensioner for around $100, and the idler relocation bracket for around $30 if you want to use the stock truck accessory alt/ps bracket.

The L99 tensioner is part #12628025.

The Dirty Dingo bracket looks like it would still be tight on the upper water neck. The bracket from RR69's pic looks to allow alittle more room. Has anyone used the DD relocation bracket with the L99 water pump? Thanks for all the information.

Kind of unnecessary IMHO. I just relocated the idler to the alt/PS bracket lower bolt hole. You'll need a spacer, but cost is almost nothing. Been driving like that for years, no issues.

Does anyone have the comparison in the tensioner mounting surfaces? I've got a Kwik bracket that ties into the water pump tensioner holes. If the depth of the bosses is the same (distance from block to tensioner mounting face), it would be easy to run without mods.

That's the Kwik bracket spaced for trucks. I'm using the f body water pump with the truck pulley pressed on. I would prefer an off the shelf water pump, but need to know the height of the L99 tensioner bosses. They tie into the Kwik bracket.

I just got my new tensioner in the mail today (L99 on left, LQ9 on right):
