I have tried shimming. I had about .120 of shims and it still does it.

Can I use the spacer, that came with the A270 flexplate, in back (toward the trans) of the factory dished flexplate?
Or do I need to purchase the adapter hub for my turbo 400?

I am going to pull the van starter and try it in my 5.3.
If it still hangs up, it has to be the A270 flexplate causing the problem.
The 5.3 is a 2001. I'm going to first check and make sure the 08 van starter is compatible.
I just checked advance auto parts site and it list two different part numbers for the different year starters.
Anybody know if my 08 6.0 starter will work in a 01 5.3?

it states the late model starters will stay engaged using the jumper wire at the starter.
Like I have.
Gray86,
thanks for the tip.
