Yes you want things to be sealed up as much as possible with the Chris 1313 or SSRA. You are trying to create a pressurised unit that creates the best overall direct airflow.

Sorry somewhat necro bump and noob questions. I have a stock 98 SS with an AC version Chris1313 ram air and SLP lid on the way I just purchased from the classifieds. What do I need to do to make this combination the most efficient? From reading this thread it seems I should first somehow block the ram air hood intake. Secondly, do I also need to do the "free ram air" mod of cutting out the bottom of the air box?
Thanks for the advice!

Ah ok thanks, I guess I was confusing the previous discussion you had around sealing it all up. But that probably pertains more to the TA hoods with the vents right in the front. Thanks

What kind of gains have you all seen from this setup .Just asking cause I got no gains in my 99z28 when I added this mod. Now this year I took off added UltraZ hood and Volant Cold air box and gained 1 tenth Thank that's weight difference. After 200 runs don't thank its worth it unless your looking for thousandth of a second and .01 mph.
