Default installed the chris1313 now i have a ?

so installed the chris1313 non a/c yesterday and it was a pain in the *** lol, it wasnt hard by any means but cutting the bottom of the radiator support was a *****. anyways, i have a question about the weatherstripping to seal the lid box off. i used what came with the kit, what im worried about is it is completely sealed off but i needed to stack it like 5 pieces tall to get it all sealed off, and its loose. if you push it very lightly it moves im worried about it coming off. did you guys use douvlble sided tape to stick to the bottom of air box opening?

Hmmm...that doesn't sound right at all to me. When I did my SSRA the other day one piece of weatherstripping sealed the front of the airbox just fine. Are you saying that you have a huge gap in the front there that's requiring 5 pieces of weatherstripping to seal it off...is that what you are saying lol?

yes it was very thin weatherstripping that came with the kit so i had to stack it like 5 pieces high, its done correctly it doesnt move or anything just you can move it with your finger. idk how tight its suppose to seal up. there is no gaps or anything. im prly just being **** about it

Yeah you have a ws6 lid setup so double sided tape is a good idea or you can hit up menards or Home Depot and get some thicker weather stripping...or another way is to get some aluminum angle to the right height and screw/silicone it into place...

You can always get a stock lid base too...

Also you did have to cut the under rib under the radiator support it just needs to be bent forward using vise grips takes like 1 minute...the direction are on speed inc's site...not a big deal it is always easier the second time around

Let me know if you got any other questions

chris im glad you mentioned adding some kind of plate. i was going to get a piece of aluminum and paint it black or find some type of plastic to cover it instead of the weatherstripping. as far as the metal that had to be bent i tried that at first and couldnt get it to clear the box so i just cut it out. also, when you take the lid off and filter out, did you seal all the edges up with silicone? does it make a difference?

Why cover the openning......now your hood will be full of air.
Why not just leave it open and use the ram air..... I did on my ss.
None ram air should block the openning but i do not think you should on a ram air.
My op.....

^^ Same hear.... leave it open. not only do you get the air from under bumper, but the air that travels through the "ram air" as well. As long as it goes through the filter and not passed it, you should be fine.

Seal it up the air coming from the bottom will leak out the top...you are only as strong as your weakest link...

lemons I am not sure what you are saying about inside of the lid hitting the radiator support?

There are pics on speed incs site in the directions if that helps

The distance of travel from the bottom of the bumper to the intake is greater than the travel from infront of the intake itself! There is a direct route from where it is located however, but from infront of the intake to filter (inches if that) would be a shorter travel for air to be delivered into the filter to intake??? Plus you have to remove your A/C...lets say -50 pounds at most....but you have to cut your bumper support too?? I have a WS6 with this mod and I have a Firehawk without. I am proud to open up my Firehawk hood before I open the WS6 hood. Not worth the money IMO.

and from all the testing and info ive read you cant have both paths of air coming in without creating a negative effect, do one or the other

Is there a "ram air" intake as to where you have to mod your hood? I know it would be a difficult task and many would not want to cut up the inside of their hoods, but making the hood 100% functional to where it delivers directly to the filter, then to the intake would be dope. Dont know if there is something already like that or not. And I wasn't trying to bash the chrs1313 intake. I am sure if produces good numbers.

just comparing the size of the chris1313 to the tiny inlets in your hood should be the first clue, these are bottom breathing cars...how do you thknk the z28 and trans ams get their air

I'm curious why it would be bad to not block off the hood inlets.
