Need Help Deciding How To Upgrade My Exhaust To Support My 408
So i just finished my 408 build and i need a killer exhaust. The car is a 98 Z28 M6. The car still has the factory headers and Y-pipe with a borla cat back (The car came this way when i bought it). So i know i want the TSP 1 7/8" long tubes but im not sure whether to just get a better y-pipe and keep my cat back or go the true dual route. Now ground clearance is a concern cause i live in socal and there are speed bumps and dips everywhere plus the car is still a dd. So i wanna know which route will gain me some more power and sound great. Thanks forthe advice.

Either true 3" duals or at least a 4" single. I made my 4" single system all from mandrel bends from summit. You'll need the panhard bar relocation kit to take it over the axle.

I was considering the TSP true duals. With the 1 7/8"long tubes from tsp and there true duals how much power am i gonna pick up? And cats or no cats? I appreciate your guys feed back on this.

I would definitely get the Tsp 1 7/8 and either the tsp true duals or the ebay ss true dual setup. You will surely gain a pretty good bit of power over the stock headers and stuff. I would go catless, but since you live in cali it might be more of a problem to go catless.

I'm gonna go against the grain on this one and say go with a SLP Dual/Dual catback. It's quiet, very easy to live with on a daily basis. Plus, if you get a good set I longtubes and y-pipe, you'll still retain very good ground clearance. With the duals, you'll more than likely lose some clearance and it will rattle your fillings out. Granted, duals sound amazing at WOT, but it will be amazingly loud too. Just depends what you're looking for. Good luck with your decision.

True duals have more power support and they sound good also but i will be honest to u i got the borla exhaust 3'' cat back with a hooker y pipe and 1 7/8 ss hooker headers and i couldnt be more happy with the power iv got and it sounds amazing. Everyone who hears it always compliments me and asks what kind of exhaust i have. Its all up to you on making the final decision. Good luck with your build.

Ok so i keep reading that with true duals u lose ground clearance. My question is how much do u lose and is there a way to prevent it. If i go true duals it will be the tsp version with there 1 7/8"long tubes if this helps.

It depends a lot on the setup.
For a DD, my vote goes for a set of 1 7/8" longtubes and the Bassani true dual headerback system. It's a tad pricey, and you'll have to pay an exhaust shop to put slip fits on it, but it sounds AMAZING and has great ground clearance to boot... It's an over-the-axle setup. I put that system on my best friend's TA, and it sounds BOSS. Nice growl at startup, quiet on the inside at part throttle, and SCREAMS at full throttle.
Or do what the rest of us do and run dumped duals that rattle windows and scare women and children. Your choice.

Thanka for all your input guys. So i know it varies from shop to shop but if i was to go the custom route what ahould it run me. Im just looking for a fair kinda price so i can know if the shops trying to rape me. Being a young guy with a F-Body seems to make shops think they can over charge. But id like to do the install my self if possible. Im just trying to see all my options before i start spending money.

Kooks longtubes and duals...best exhaust setup ever made for these cars. Loud, deep, zero rasp, install can be done by a 'regular guy'
Price tag is a bit steep, but you won't ever need another exhaust.
