x-pipe duals muffler choice
I'm in the process of having a 408 built to put in my TA and during that swap I'm wanting to go the dual exhaust route but I want something that isn't obnoxiously loud under normal driving conditions. The headers will be Kooks 1 7/8 race headers (no cats) and the tips I'm going with corsa clones 3" inlet 4" outlet, anyone have a suggestion on the mufflers? I want a good sound but I don't need it to sound like NASCAR in traffic... thanks

I love my sweet thunders. Bullets are loud, chambered are loud but sound the best imo...consider some borla, spiral flows, magna flows. You can't go wrong chambered though....throaty/pure muscle sound..I never thought my duals were crazy loud on the stock cam....especially warmed up.

What length sweet thunders are you guys running?
Also if you had to rank the following in your experience from quietest to loudest how would you rank them?
Sweet Thunder, Borla XR-1, Magnaflow 20" 14419, Dynomax Bullet, Others?

This may be a stupid question but has anyone ever run a sweet thunder out of the x-pipe before the axle and then run something like a Borla XR-1 or Magnaflow bullet style muffler after the axle?

SWEET THUNDERS. Deep throaty sound in low rpm's that people will notice but won't attract unwanted attention(police). Then when you get down on it, babies will cry. It is the absolute best of both worlds IMO.

Bullets sound like dog ****. Tames open headers just a tad not much tone difference.
1 chambers are slightly quieter but the quality of the tone is leaps and bounds over any bullet.
Loud does not sound good.. Sounding good sounds good.. If it is loud and sounds good it is a win win.

They're considered bullets, but they have a LOT more packing material. The 1 chambers have none at all. They're hollow.
I'm going to dual 14419's and NOT the Borla's due to case size. The XR1's have a 5" case and the MagnaPacks are 4" cases.
Another reason is the Sweet Thunders actually have a 2.5" ID being that the total OD of the ST is 3". I think at my power level there's a few ponies to be had, plus I miss the bass and "tone" of the MagnaPacks.
