What does it take to be considered having "Full" bolt-ons?? With so many options I'm assuming there are your basic bolt-ons and then some... but what does it take? Is an f-body with LT headers, full exhaust such as an ORY/catted Y, cutout electric or non, lid, aftermarket MAF sensor, TB and intake manifold considered a fully equipped bolt-on car?? Or is it more than that, does it take the extra mile? Maybe adding 3.73 or 4.10 gears?? Torque converter? Or nitrous? What is this talk about adding Royal Purple as an upgrade?? Is it really going to be 3xs better than my Mobil 1??

My 02 SS is in the middle of being put through this bolt-on stage and I am just wondering what it takes to go from stock to raw power??

I think it's a matter of opinion to be honest. Pretty much anything minus heads, cam, nitrous, turbo, blower, etc...is pretty much full bolt ons to me

Its just a matter of opinion. I typically look at header/full exhaust and intake as a fully bolted car.

Agreed with both posts above. I consider bolts on a cold air intake(SLP lid), headers, and full exhaust.

Agreed to all the above. I'm planning next to get an FTP 102mm lid, aftermarket MAF & port/Polish my TB and eventually getting a 102mm FAST intake. Will I see any HP gains from these mods without a cam/head job? Will I lose HP/TQ with only full exhaust??

Yes you will see a power gain even without heads and cam. Why would you think that you would lose power with a full exhaust? Not true at all

No that I would lose power down low in TQ because of going from stock (which I'm not sure what the diameters are) and then going to a 102mm setup. I've heard you don't gain as much power or give it the "potential" it can have.

Well if you are coming from a stock LS1 intake you should see an all around gain going to the 102 . Sure you wont even be using close to it's full potential, but you will get something from it with a full bolt ons car for sure.

My plan is to do cam & heads... Not knowing how soon though, but hopefully soon enough to do a tune right after...

Do you have an end goal in mind?? I think going right to a 102 lid, maf, tb and intake is $$ that could be better spent. Alot can be done with the ls6 int. and ported stock tb, even if you do go with a Fast intake, a 92 would be more than enough!! Post up your goals and current mods! I must have been typing while you posted but still need car specs and current mods!

Yes my goal as of now is to reach 400+rwhp keeping it street. My future goals are 600-700 rwhp with forced induction and making it into a dragster. But not for years down the road due to it being my DD!

Current mods are what came on my SLP build
-Hurst shifter
-SLP lid
-SLP CME exhaust

Near future mods:
(Not installed, most are in the living room though)

-MOOG parts install: upper strut mounts, spring insulator, coil seat, control arm bushings & stabilizer bar.
-Koni shocks/BMR springs install
-Poly Motor mount install
-QTP LT's 1 3/4 install
-AIR! delete
-ORY pipe/ e cutout install
-FTP lid/ported TB/MAF
-LS6 port/FAST Intake??
-Tune

Goal is 102mm for down the road, no sense in buying a 92mm now, to be replaced by a 102mm later on... unless, the 92 would be sufficient enough.

400 rwhp is doable with your m6, a good cam, intake/tb and dyno tune should get you real close if not there!! Going to FI in the future may require some internal upgrades to reach 700rwhp, not to mention a complete driveline upgrade

Full bolt ons means every little external mod. I don't think too many ppl really have them all because some are a waste of money.

My car put down 414/387
Tsp prc 2.5 5.3 heads
Tsp 228R
Ls6 intake
Ported tb
Lid
Long tube headers
Off road y pipe
Slp cat back

Just was wondering what everybody else's thought process was... I'll be going that extra mile on my build. Shooting for 450+ rwhp 420+rwtq

Are you planning on a pretty aggressive HCI combo to reach that number? Only reason I ask is because dynos can vary quite a bit, so you may not see that magical 450 rwhp mark....just keep that in mind

HCI you nut haha, you're currently in on my posts in Internals! Martin @ Tick Performance and I will be working on a sweet street build for my 2002 SS coming soon! Depending on underways/Deployment but I hope to shoot to be finished before February '14... lets see how fast I can sell my other 01 Z28 though!!! Gramps aka pops is having too much fun chirpin gears in it up in TN! But yes, a mean H/C/I install is in the works!
