best ls long tube headers for the $$$??

It depends on what you want really. First off get 1-7/8 headers they will ALWAYS make more power than 1-3/4. Next it depends on what your budget is. Kooks and ARH are made in the USA and go in without issues normally. TSP has an over seas made 1-7/8 header that is a good bang for the buck but they do have some fitment issues now and then but still overall a good product. If you are just getting the headers then the US made Kooks or ARH will cost about 200-250 more but you get a better quality header built here. If you have the money Kooks or ARH

I should clarify, not issues once they go in. However getting them in can be a challenge. I've installed almost every header I can think of and tsp's almost always need the motor mount disconnected and the motor shifted over perhaps the oil filter removed also. I have never had to do that with kooks or arh headers. but yes you are right about the ory it takes a lot of finagling to get it to fit ok

cool thanks for the replys guys, looks like I have a decent set of options they are going into my 3 and 4 linked 56 chevy truck 4x4 its currently a 5 yr build so if i save up some coin for some good 1-7/8 sounds like thats the best route to get to my 430hp range with my lq4

OMG those ebay headers are so Gdamn tempting.... dr_whigham, since you seem to have a decent handle and strong opinion on measured sizes (based on another thread) is the typical header advertised as a 1 3/4 being measured with OD or ID? I see that in several of the ebay adds they quote the headers as being 1.75, and then say that the ID is 1.625. This is fine and logical, but the question is do all companies do it the same way? what are most companies measuring when they list their 1 3/4 headers?
