Default Doing Header Install: Do I need a cherry picker?

I plan on taking on this endeavor in my apartment garage, facing inwards (towards the back, away from the garage door). Will I need to have a cherry picker to lift up the motor so I can replace the motor mounts and/or do the headers? I plan on doing the following:
*Headers (duh)
*Motor Mounts (poly's)
*Spark Plugs & Wires

I have 2 floor jacks and a car jack. Just not sure on jacking points of the motor itself. I already know I have to have the car higher than Lil Wayne on April 20th...

Pretty sure you will need one if you're doing motor mounts. We used an engine hoist on mine and it was a pain in the *** because when we lifted it up it was being lifted slightly off center and it twisted the motor a fraction of an inch and we couldn't get the damn motor mounts lined up.

You can do it all without one. a little searching on here & you'll find a few ways to go about the motor mount swap. For the headers & plugs all you need is to jack the car up high enough to get the LT's in from below.

For the motor mounts, put a jack with a piece of wood(2x10) under the oil pan and remove the entire pedestal . Do one side at a time. It is much easier this way.

I like using the cherry picker for the motor mounts.

I did solid mounts and long tubes without a hoist, just floor jacks. Later, i did a converter and i have to admit dropping a trans with solid mounts is the most/least fun i've ever had working on a car.

Thats no joke. Solid mounts have NO GIVE. Even polys make it tough, but its do-able.

I did mine in my garage with jack stands and a jack. Just put a piece of wood on the oil pan and jacked the motor up a bit to keep it in place. One thing I didn't have an issue with though is the motor mounts lining up like everyone else does on here, I got the bolt halfway in before it stopped, so I just tapped it with a hammer and it slid all the way through on both sides. Good Luck!

Check out section 5, I also used a jack below the motor.

You don't need one. I did mine with jackstands and floor jacks. Just use a piece of wood and jack it up like has been said. And definitely remove pedestals. Makes it a ton easier to line up. Also pay attention to how the mounts go in the clamshell. I ended up having to do one side twice lol.

Don't get dad new socks or a grill brush this year.
