Default About to install the long tubes.

I think I have everything. Headers, ORY, header gaskets, header bolts, motor mounts, air gaskets, and I will re-pin the PCM plug to re-use my front o2 sensors with the rear o2 sensor harness. I still need spark plugs, but I will pick those up from the auto parts store. Should I get some kind of special plugs or stock replacements? Also plan to send the PCM to Frost for a tune. Am I missing anything? I know this subject has been beaten to death, I just want to make sure I got everything.

As high as you can go then higher lol.
Be safe. A buddy helped me with mine on a lift. I then had to take the passenger side one back off few years later do to air tube breaking off. I took it off on jack stands and it went pretty good but just have to try different angles to get them to slip in

On the passenger side(if you still have a/c) remove coil pack&bracket. Remove the two spark plugs closest to the front(it might even help quite abit to remove the passenger valve cover). Before installing passenger side header it will be easier to install #8 spark plug before you install the header.

I bought MSD wires for my ws6 and my c5. The factory wires rip very easily if pulled on wrong. Any wire will work though, if you can get all 8 of the factory wires off without ripping them I'd just use those if you're crunched for money.

The previous owner installed a set of MSD wires. They are at least 3 years old, I have had the car that long. But the car only has 35k miles, so I figure if I can remove them w/o damage then they should be good to go.

You'll have to yank the MSD wires unnecessarily hard to rip them in half. Just pull them buy the gray boot that connects to the spark plug and they'll work just fine.

Should be pretty simple on jack stands just get it as high as you can. Safely of course. In my opinion the motor mounts were a pita mostly because my drill bits are very dull.

As far as spark plugs and wires. Ive always used AC Delco Iridiums and MSD wires. Ive switched to the NGK Iridiums no differences from what I can tell. What headers and ory did you choose?

Get it high i used 12 ton jack stands. Have a friend up top and zip tie the gasket to the flange. Send the header up in its bubble wrap shipping bag to keep it scratch free. Get the collectors nearly perpendicular to the ground and play around with it and they slide right up. Make sure you have blocks of wood to use as supports for the motor mounts when you drill and sharp bits. Get the number 8 spark plug and the header bolts by it from the bottom. Keep all mm bolts loose until you get the main bolts through. Have fun.

i just installed the ac delco iridiums and msd wires. Havent run her a ton yet but they seem to be nice. unless you are running an intense setup you are probably fine with stock plugs.

Started the install this fine 4TH of July at 6 am right after I put the boston butt on the smoker. Done for the evening. What a PITA. I got all of the rip out done. Removed old shorty headers, y pipe, and broke down the motor mounts. Removing the rivets from the clamshells is harder than it should be. Solid rivets?! WTF?

Tomorrow I will run to the auto parts store to get plugs, the MSD wires checked out ok. Surprisingly I don't need anything else. I waited to go to the auto parts store until I finished the rip out to identify any additional parts I may need, but I don't need any! Amazing.

The boston butt is about ready, dinner gonna be FINE tonight. Happy Fourth of July everyone. Try not to blow any digits off.

So did the install go ok?

I'm trying to get as much feedback/info as possible. I am planning on starting my LTs/ORY install next weekend. I'm not sure if I will be able to get the car high enough and might have to undo MM and rock the engine.
