Default Pics of my Hooker catback installed....

Great all around catback! Can't beat the price, performance, and sound. I can't wait until I receive my Kook's LT's and catted Y. The tips looks much better than my prior ugly *** Magnaflow catback. Just thought I would share for the who might be wondering...

P.S. The tips are not touching the bumper.

I bought it from ls1speed.com for their regular price of 289.99, but at that time they were having a special for no shipping charge.

So you have had a magnaflow system on... and now have the hooker..

What are the sound differences??

Have you dynoed with each one with the same mods?

Yes, I did have a magnaflow system before the hooker. Generally speaking, the Hooker catback has more of a deep tone, compared to maganaflow which seemed to be slighty higher pitched IMO. The Magnaflow catback was definitely louder, but it was relatively tame at first. I've only had the Hooker on for about 3 days, so it's pretty tame right now(still sounds good though). Who knows if it will become louder over time like the the Magnaflow did? I do have the same mods, all I swapped out was the catback. Although I have Kook's LT's and catted Y on the way, im still going to dyno before and see the difference between these catbacks. It doesn't "feel" like i've lost any power, but the dyno will tell for sure. I'll let you know...

A friend of mine just installed the Hooker on his otherwise stock 00 WS6. I was really suprised how quiet it was. Even under WOT, it's not very loud, IMO anyway. Does the Hooker system need a "break-in" period like other mufflers do to reach their full potential?

I was almost thinking about going with the Hooker until I heard how quiet it was. I'm just going to stick with the Loudmouth myself.

OTOH... I haven't heard a Hooker system with longtubes and cats. I haven't heard a Loudmouth with longtubes AND cats either, only without - and I don't think it sounded that great.

I had the hooker system on my 98 and liked it. It did get louder as time went on. I purchased it before they went to the SS tips. I had the chrome tips and they ended up rusting pretty bad. For my 2002 I'm leaning towards the Magnaflow system since its stainless....its pretty moist up here in the Northeast.

You have a valid point, the hooker catback is on the "quieter" side, but it still has a nice tone. I purposely bought a tame catback because I knew I was going to add LT's. Longtubes and a catted Y will definitely wake up the Hooker, and without any rasp. I've heard this setup in person and it sounds bad ***, that's why I went with it. A lot of people will buy a "loud" catback at first, then regret it when adding LT's.

I just installed the hooker as well, its ok, it is quiet but it seems to get a little louder as it breaks it, HOWEVER NO RASP! It would be perfect for someone how wants a little rumble yet doesnt want to wake the neighbors up in the morning when they leave for work.

I am pretty sure it will sound incredible with LTs and a Y pipe
